Chuncheon tonkatsu set meals with curry sauce: Jeongseong Katsu

I went on a trip to Chuncheon! The most important thing on a trip is definitely what you eat, right?! After arriving in Chuncheon and looking around here and there, I got hungry pretty quickly. While deciding what to have for dinner, I heard there was a popular tonkatsu specialist in Toegye-dong near Namchuncheon Station, so I went to check it out.

It was Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch (정성카츠 춘천퇴계점)!

Parking and getting there

For people visiting by car like us, whether parking is available is one of the most important things. Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch lets you use the underground parking lot in the building itself, Jeongseong Building, so parking was really easy.

You can park in the nearby alleys or along the street, but when we visited on a weekend evening, the nearby street parking was already full, so it was a bit tough to find a spot. I strongly recommend using the underground parking lot for an easier visit!

• Bus: Walk 125 m after getting off at the Yuseung Hannaedeul stop, 215 m from the National Pension Service stop, or 256 m from the Humensia 1st Complex stop.
• On foot: 189 m from Namchuncheon Humensia 1st Complex Apartments, 300 m from Toegye-dong Administrative Welfare Center, or 945 m from Exit 2 of Namchuncheon Station (Kangwon National University).
• By car: Enter “10-8 Toegye-ro 93beon-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon State.”

A bright, tidy dining room

As soon as I opened the door and stepped inside, the bright, orderly interior caught my eye. Overall, it felt very clean and hygienically maintained.

There was plenty of space between tables and lots of seating, so it looked perfectly suitable not only for solo diners but also for a date or a family meal. Each table had a menu or kiosk setup, making it easy to browse and order.

The katsu menu had set meals, along with pasta and side dishes. I thought it was so interesting that they serve katsu and pasta together, haha.

Review event and Wi-Fi

There is also a review event and Wi-Fi.

• Write one review and receive a drink.
• Write two reviews and receive two fried shrimp.
• Write three reviews and receive naengmomil (cold buckwheat noodles).

Loin and tenderloin tonkatsu set meals

We ordered the loin tonkatsu set meal and the tenderloin tonkatsu set meal.

It was delicious dipped in the tonkatsu sauce that came with it, but adding wasabi or lightly dipping it in salt brought out the meat’s clean, nutty flavor even more. The tenderloin tonkatsu was nutty and soft, while the loin tonkatsu felt like the classic standard for tonkatsu.

Mixing the rice with this curry sauce made it even more delicious 👍

The water was especially good! It felt like barley tea (?)

It was so good that we finished every last bite. If you prefer a clean, tender flavor, I recommend the tenderloin tonkatsu; if you want more chew and deep nuttiness, go for the loin tonkatsu.
