Guro izakaya seafood ramyeon with shrimp and mussels: Robatayaki Sodam

In short

Robatayaki Sodam Guro Digital Complex Branch is an izakaya on the second floor of a building three minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Guro Digital Complex Station in Guro, Seoul. A couple booked through Naver Reservation, sat down right away at the counter and table seating, and ordered seafood ramyeon, yurinki (crispy fried chicken in tangy sauce) and grilled Patagonian toothfish, with a free soft-boiled fried egg and a review-event cheese ice cream on top. The seafood ramyeon costs more than ordinary ramyeon, but the shrimp, baby octopus and mussels piled into the bowl make up for it.

Exterior of Robatayaki Sodam Guro Digital Complex Branch

Robatayaki Sodam is on the 2nd floor, and it's a great spot for a date, a work dinner, or any gathering as a Guro Digital Complex bar.

How to get to Robatayaki Sodam from Guro Digital Complex Station, and where to park

This Guro bar izakaya is located close to Guro Digital Complex Station, within a 3-minute walk from Exit 1. If you're coming by car, there's a public parking lot you can use — I found the Kolon Science Valley 2 parking lot nearby! Haha!

Since we figured we'd be drinking anyway, I left the car at home today, hahahahaha.

Inside Robatayaki Sodam: counter seats and table seats

Interior with counter and table seating

Inside, there are counter-style (dachi) seats as well as table seats, haha.

Reserved seats booked via Naver Reservation

We visited with a Naver Reservation booking, and they had our reserved seats ready, so we could sit down right away, haha.

Spacious interior with a Japanese izakaya atmosphere

The interior really feels like Japan — the atmosphere is great and quiet enough to talk, so I'd recommend it for dates or work dinners too! Haha, and it's also quite spacious inside, haha.

Robatayaki Sodam menu and prices: grilled fish and skewers are the signature

Menu and price list at Robatayaki Sodam

The specialty here is grilled fish — grilled fish skewers are the signature menu. They showed us the dishes being grilled right in front of us, which was fun, and since it was grilled fresh, it was so delicious.

The soft-boiled fried egg that came as a service item was really, really good, TT hahaha. You all know how good it is to eat an egg like this before drinking, haha.

For those who can't drink, they also have soda options like this, haha.

Soda options for non-drinkers

The seafood ramyeon — affordable, and packed full of seafood, so it's a dish nobody could dislike. It also pairs really well with drinks, so I'd definitely recommend it.

It's a bit pricier than typical ramyeon, but the seafood makes up for it, hahaha.

My husband, who loves firm, chewy noodles, really enjoyed this seafood ramyeon, hahaha.

The seafood is really packed in, haha — shrimp, baby octopus, mussels, and more. It's such good quality with this much packed in, and the side dish quality was quite good overall.

Yurinki at Robatayaki Sodam: as good as a Chinese restaurant

A plate of yurinki topped with tangy sauce

The yurinki (crispy fried chicken with tangy sauce) — a nicely tangy-sweet sauce paired perfectly with the crispy fried chicken, so delicious.

Yurinki served over a generous bed of vegetables

This yurinki tastes as good as one from a proper Chinese restaurant, and the vegetables underneath were generous too, making it even tastier! Haha.

Cross-section of yurinki showing crispy batter

It was really crispy and delicious, haha. The batter wasn't too thick either — just the right thickness — and the meat inside was tender too!

Grilled Patagonian toothfish, tender over an open flame

And the grilled toothfish. I already like grilled toothfish, so once I heard the grilled fish here is really good, there was no way I wasn't ordering it...

Grilled toothfish flesh served with sauce

The sauce was really tasty too, and since the toothfish was grilled over open flame, it came out cooked through tender, haha.

Crispy-grilled skin of the toothfish

The skin part was crispy too — absolutely the best! Haha.

Review-event cheese ice cream to finish

And the cheese ice cream we got from the review event.

A generous bowl of cheese ice cream

Absolutely the best... The portion was generous too, and the cheese flavor combined with the ice cream's sweetness was so good.

Cheese ice cream topped with a cookie

The cookie on top was crispy and delicious too. If you're looking for a good bar near Guro Digital Complex Station, I recommend Robatayaki Sodam!! I'll be back next time to try the skewers, haha.
