Now that the weather's getting a little cooler, there are days when you just crave good bar food with a drink, you know? This time I wanted yukhoe (raw beef) in Unjeong, and after looking around I ended up at Yukhoe Maltuout.

What kind of place is Yukhoe Maltuout near Yadang Station in Paju?
Yukhoe Maltuout Paju Yadang Branch is a raw beef specialty bar near Yadang Station in Paju. The name itself is fun and sticks in your head once you hear it. True to being a yukhoe specialist, the menu centers on yukhoe dishes, with enough simple meal and drinking-snack options to make it a good spot for a light dinner too.

Beef porridge appetizer, plus liver and tripe as standard sides
They gave us this warm porridge as an appetizer. You could actually taste the beef chunks in it — so good!! And they served one for each of us, which was even better.

They also gave us liver and tripe as basic side dishes. Those must cost a fair bit, but they were so fresh and delicious. Great as a drinking snack, but also so good for your health, right~!

The oil dipping sauce with raw garlic was the peak of nuttiness and genuinely delicious. Basically every dish here had that deep savory flavor. This is Yukhoe Maltuout, a must-visit spot near Yadang Station in Unjeong, Paju.

We started with a fresh lettuce salad and a cold beer!! This is a great spot for gatherings near Yadang Station. The vibe was pretty exotic too — it felt like having a drink in Japan.

Ahh~~~!! It's so fresh~~~!!

Small yukhoe set: how much beef and how it is seasoned
We ordered a yukhoe small set and beef ramyeon that day. When the yukhoe arrived, the portion was actually more generous than I expected. With yukhoe, the condition of the meat and the seasoning balance matter most — the meat was clean and tender, so it was easy to eat from the very first bite without feeling heavy. The seasoning wasn't overly sweet or salty either, so you could really taste the yukhoe itself.

Eating yukhoe with cheese, radish sprouts, pear and minari
They served cheese, radish sprouts, sweet pear, and minari (water dropwort) to eat alongside, which made everything taste incredibly fresh. Eating it with cheese was a delicacy in itself.

The visuals are exploding~~

Yukhoe is delicious on its own, but there's real fun in mixing in the sides along the way, right? Once you start picking up a piece here and there, your chopsticks just keep going back for more. Especially if you're someone who loves yukhoe as a drinking snack, I think this is a dish you can order without much thought.

Beef ramyeon and yukhoe, eaten in turn
And surprisingly, the dish that won me over that day was the beef ramyeon. Partway through the yukhoe I started craving warm broth, so we ordered it — and of course, when you're eating meat, you can't resist ramyeon.

With beef in it, the broth had a richer, more filling flavor than a regular ramyeon. That spicy, warm broth paired surprisingly well with the yukhoe too.
Going back and forth between the cold yukhoe and a spoonful of hot beef ramyeon, then back to a piece of yukhoe, worked really well together. I'd only planned to order yukhoe at first, but I was glad we added the beef ramyeon too.

What to order at Yukhoe Maltuout when two people visit
If you're visiting as a pair, I think ordering the yukhoe small set with beef ramyeon is an easy, unpretentious combo to enjoy. Yukhoe alone can feel a bit lacking, but with the ramyeon you naturally end up with a full meal too.

There are so many good restaurants popping up in Unjeong these days that it's fun just hunting for new spots, and this visit to Yukhoe Maltuout was one that's worth a stop if you love yukhoe.

It felt especially suited to nights when you don't want to order a big spread but just want to sit with one plate of yukhoe, chat, and have a light drink. Add the beef ramyeon on top and you also get a warm bowl of broth, which makes it even more satisfying. If you're craving yukhoe in Unjeong and want to enjoy both yukhoe and a soup dish without going too heavy, I think Yukhoe Maltuout is worth putting on your list. We had a great meal with the yukhoe small set and beef ramyeon that day — next time I'd like to try some of their other yukhoe menu items too~
