So this is Robatayaki Sodam in Guro, a place that specializes in aged sashimi and skewers :)

Window seats at Robatayaki Sodam instead of the bar counter
Robatayaki Sodam does robatayaki-style grilling — fresh ingredients cooked over a charcoal grill right in front of guests — so the counter seat, lined with fish and meat, looked like it'd be a feast for the eyes. But we ended up at a window seat instead, hehehe.

Such a cute menu

Everything looked delicious so it was hard to choose

What we ordered: small sashimi + mixed skewer set, 52,000 won
We're bad at deciding, so we just went with the set menu haha. We ordered the set that comes with a small aged sashimi plate and a mixed skewer platter, plus two glasses of draft beer 🍻

Kyaa!! Cheers!! Clink clink!! As soon as we sat down, the basic side dish came out, and — wait, what??

A fried egg, sizzling away, hahaha. I love this kind of basic side dish 🤣 It comes out still sizzling on a hot griddle, so it was perfect for picking off a bite of egg between sips of beer. Not a big deal, but something like this really lifts the mood haha. The basic side dish really matters at a bar, doesn't it haha.

Is the small aged sashimi plate enough for two?
Robatayaki Sodam's small aged sashimi plate comes with octopus, yellowtail, salmon, flounder, and sea bream, plus lemon and radish sprouts. It's labeled 'small' but the portion was pretty generous — just right for two people drinking together.

The sashimi overall was served cleanly, and maybe because it's aged, it felt totally different from eating live-fish sashimi. One bite in, and the fish was chewy yet tender, with an umami that quietly builds the more you chew.

Maybe it's because I've been into aged sashimi lately, but this really hit the spot haha. And most of all, it went so well with draft beer 🍺 A bite of sashimi, a sip of beer, another bite of sashimi haha. This combo — I just can't resist it...

What comes in the mixed skewer platter
The mixed skewer platter that came with the set had all kinds: chicken skin, gizzard, chicken thigh, shrimp, tomato-bacon roll, rice cake-bacon skewer, ginkgo nuts, mushroom, shrimp, and garlic. So many different kinds of skewers — already a feast for the eyes!!

What a spread haha. Sashimi alone can feel like something's missing

Grabbing a skewer here and there in between made the menu combination really work.

The charcoal-grilled skewers especially had a slight smoky flavor and a nice saltiness — no complaints as beer food!!

If aged sashimi is clean and chewy, the skewers are smoky and salty — alternating between the two, neither ever got old, and my hand just kept reaching back haha.
The sashimi + mixed skewer set menu is ₩52,000

Worth it for sashimi and skewers in one sitting in Guro?
In the end, we cleanly finished both glasses of draft beer and ate through the aged sashimi and skewers to the last bite 🍻 If you're in Guro craving sashimi but don't want it to be just sashimi, or you also want other drinking snacks like skewers, Robatayaki Sodam seems like a solid choice!

One-shot ending again today~~~ The weather's getting cooler these days, and coming to a place like this after work for a plate of aged sashimi and a glass of draft beer feels like it'd wash away the whole day's fatigue 🍺 This is the kind of place that comes to mind when you want a casual drink in Guro along with sashimi and skewers! In the end, drinking doesn't need fancy snacks — just delicious food and a cold glass of draft beer is enough, dada da 🍻
