Gangseo Mexican restaurant with Texas BBQ ribs: Taqueros

Taqueros, a great date spot located by Balsan Station and Magok Station, is a family restaurant specializing in Mexican and South American food!

Taqueros Magok Main Branch location and wait time

Taqueros Magok Main Branch is on the second floor of the Magok GMG building, a five-minute walk from Exit 3 of Magok Station. From Balsan Station, it takes around 10–15 minutes.

Unlike the other restaurants in the building, the exterior really stands out with its bold red color and exotic decor, so it was easy to find! We visited after making a Naver reservation for 1:30 p.m. on a weekday, and there was no wait!

A casual interior with a Mexican feel

Taqueros had a charming, exotic yet casual Mexican-style interior, from its strong colors to the framed wall art and every little prop. It is a family restaurant I recommend for dates, blind dates, family meals, anniversaries, wedding invitation gatherings, and all sorts of get-togethers ✨✨✨✨✨

QR ordering and set menus

You can order at Taqueros using the QR code attached to each table. Every item had detailed images, so it was easy to choose what we wanted.

• Texas BBQ ribs ₩49,000: ribs rubbed by hand, slow-cooked, coated in barbecue sauce, and grilled
• Fajitas ₩43,000: assorted meats, stir-fried vegetables, and rice wrapped in tortillas with sauce
• Chipotle shrimp enchiladas ₩22,900: tortillas filled with shrimp, rice, stir-fried onions, and cheese, baked and served with chipotle cream sauce
• Fish taco / crispy chicken taco ₩13,900 each (2 pieces)

There are so, so many different kinds of Mexican food 🌯🌮🫔

A Naver reservation gets you a buffalo wing coupon, and apparently a mini cheesecake is provided if you visit for a wedding invitation gathering or birthday party. A Naver reservation is essential—just leave “wedding invitation gathering” or “birthday” in the notes. They also give you Nutella tortilla chips and ice cream if you join the Naver photo-review event, so definitely, definitely do it!! If you got all of that, you might be full from just the freebies 🤭

Ribs in the couple set, plus churros and a watermelon margarita

We ordered Taqueros’ best-selling Taqueros Signature Couple Set (for 2)! It comes with one crispy chicken taco, one fish taco, and either fajitas or Texas BBQ ribs.

We paid an extra ₩6,000 to switch from fajitas to ribs, making the set ₩62,000. For drinks, we added the summer seasonal watermelon frozen margarita for ₩14,000 and a Coke Zero for ₩3,500. Oh! We also ordered Mexican churros for ₩5,000 🤭🤤 The total came to ₩84,500 >__<

After we ordered, they suddenly brought us nachos and nacho cheese, and told us it was the complimentary appetizer that comes with an order >__< This much as a free starter,,,? They were nicely salty and crisp, and honestly as delicious as nachos you would pay for 😋

Then, one by one, out came the Taqueros Signature Couple Set, Mexican churros, watermelon frozen margarita, and Coke Zero ✨✨✨✨✨✨ The whole table was completely full!

I chose the alcoholic watermelon frozen margarita

The watermelon frozen margarita came in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, and I picked alcoholic! I think the non-alcoholic one was a little cheaper, haha. It is made by blending in-season summer watermelon with a margarita, then topping it with a whole cute watermelon-bar ice cream!

It was a fresh watermelon juice cocktail, and since it had alcohol, it was not overly sweet—so delicious. I totally recommend it for women on a date 🍹

But seriously, do not be shocked when it arrives because it is huge hahaha

The number-one dish that day: crispy fish tacos

Fish tacos and crispy chicken tacos 🌮 The crispy chicken taco tasted like that familiar, upscale snack wrap flavor, but everyone, the fish taco here is the real deal!!!

The batter was completely crisp and the fish was really substantial, making this my number-one Taqueros dish of the day ✨✨✨✨✨

Texas BBQ ribs that exceeded expectations

Honestly, I am someone who does not expect much from ribs at family restaurants. But Taqueros Magok’s Texas BBQ ribs are really different. The savory barbecue sauce had soaked into the meat so well, and above all, the ribs were wonderfully meaty—but also so tender that the meat came right off the bone 🍖😋

The fries that came alongside were thick-cut rather than thin, which made them so nice to pick up and eat one by one (๑´ސު｀๑) 🍟

Mexican churros with Nutella chocolate

And these are the Mexican churros ordered by bread-and-dessert lover Bbangyejin!🍪 If you normally have high standards for churros, you really must try these!! From the crisp texture alone, they are different from the churros at amusement parks and chain shops ⚡️ And what more is there to say about sweet cinnamon churros with thick, rich Nutella chocolate!

And jalapeños and tacos are such a perfect match, are they not? You need to request these separately, so please mention it when ordering. Taqueros Magok Main Branch is a Balsan–Magok Station date spot I recommend for all kinds of gatherings, from dates and blind dates to wedding invitation gatherings, birthday parties, and family meals! If you like Mexican food, definitely visit 🫶🏻 Next time, I am going back for chimichangas >___<
