Magoknaru Station Italian restaurant: the basics and the mood

While looking for an Italian spot near Magoknaru, we ended up at 'Romaok Magok'~ We were exploring LG Art Center and spotted a nice-looking restaurant right on the 3rd floor, so we went in!

As soon as we walked in it was prettier than expected. Overall it's white and wood-toned, with lots of antique pieces and statue-like decor, so it feels upscale and elegant.

But it's not too heavy either — comfortable for a meal! There really were a lot of couples, and since LG Art Center shows are held in the same building, it's a popular spot with many visitors~
Romaok Magok menu and the 50% dessert deal with a show ticket
As an LG Art Center restaurant, what we ordered was halibut carpaccio, abalone gonad pasta, and Napoli Mare Pomodoro pasta! For drinks we got bokbunja (black raspberry) ade and an americano.

If you have a same-day performance ticket, there's also a 50% off dessert event~

Romaok Magok also has good set menus. They bundle pasta or risotto together for a discount! There's also a special menu tied to LG Art Center shows, so it'd be a nice thing to eat together if you're there for a performance.

Why Romaok Magok is worth it, starting with the pre-meal bread

The reason I want to recommend this place as an LG Art Center restaurant is that the pre-meal bread is delicious right off the bat!
I went to the Yangjae branch of Romaok with my mom before. I felt it then too — the pre-meal bread here is genuinely delicious!

It's really soft and chewy, and it's even better with the halibut carpaccio sauce! This halibut carpaccio appetizer is a must-order… haha it's so ~~ good! Eating it with the sauce and fruit is a totally different flavor experience from just eating raw fish plain.
What does the halibut carpaccio at Romaok Magok taste like?

Among the Italian dishes at this Magoknaru restaurant, the halibut carpaccio was really my type!

The halibut carpaccio has a wasabi-based sauce, but it's surprisingly not sharp at all — really smooth.

The halibut alone is already delicious!

Eaten with grapefruit, the refreshing flavor really pops.

Eaten with mandarin, the sweet-tart mandarin flavor pairs really well too.
How to order milder pasta, and the abalone geou pasta
Tip! At Romaok Magok you can ask for pasta with a milder salt level! Even ordering it mild, it suited our taste perfectly. If you're not someone who likes it salty, I'd recommend ordering it mild~

The abalone gonad pasta is a fully rich, deep style.
The distinctive intense flavor of the abalone gonad soaks right into the noodles, so if you like thick, rich pasta you'll probably love this! My boyfriend said this abalone gonad pasta was really delicious haha.

We both thought the pasta noodles themselves were delicious! The texture was really good~
Napoli Mare Pomodoro pasta: light, fresh and tomato-forward

In contrast, the Napoli Mare Pomodoro pasta feels much lighter.
There's quite a bit of seafood in it, and the tomato's acidity makes it refreshing overall.

I actually liked this one a little more haha. I already love sweet-tart tomato pasta, and with the seafood added you can taste the savory depth too~ After eating the rich pasta, one bite of the pomodoro felt like it reset my palate!
Is Romaok Magok worth a trip to Magoknaru Station?

If you're looking for an Italian restaurant near Magoknaru, I'm planning to go back to Romaok Magok haha. It's easy to build a date course around Seoul Botanic Garden, and the location works great as an LG Art Center restaurant too, plus the atmosphere is on point!! If I go again I'll definitely order the halibut carpaccio haha. Next time I want to try a main dish or the risotto too~
