Hongdae restaurant dinner with crunchy corn fritters: Omil Hongdae

After work, I was going to meet some team members I had really wanted to see, but our meetup time got pushed back 🥹 I wanted to see them ASAP(?)!!!!!!! Anyway, pregnant me... cannot endure hunger.... so I decided to have dinner with my close unnie first before meeting them! And I got to briefly see her cute baby too 🙉 Hehe.

I sent my unnie a huge list of good restaurants while we were deciding where to go, and my cute unnie chose a restaurant as cute as she is 🤪❤️ Hahahaha, so we went to Omil together!

After searching hard, we found O! mil. It was super close to Hongik University Station, which was nice 😌

It is on the second floor, so we went upstairs together. There was a cute sign telling us to watch our step, so I took a photo 🤪 We arrived around 5:20 p.m., but it was already full, probably because it is such a popular spot.... ㅠㅡㅠ So we waited, and there was a place upstairs where we could sit while waiting, so we sat here for a bit!!!

While waiting, I was chatting with my unnie and her cute baby, and seriously, the baby had grown so much since last week..... Those Michelin-man little folds are so adorable that I touched them a little.. a little lot..... I cannot believe my unnie gave birth to such a cute baby ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Thank you, unnie ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ(?)...

Maybe because the restaurant operates without a break time, a table opened up after about 10 minutes!!!! Happily, up we went. Even on the way up, there was a cute message cheering us on 🤣💛💛

The order bell and a great-value set for two

At first, they gave us this little bell along with the utensils(?).. They told us to ring it when we were ready to order, and it was somehow so cute and fun 🥰

The menu looked like this, and there were lots of great-value brunch dishes!!!! The set for two was especially good value, so that is what we chose!

I was a little nervous ringing the bell after deciding on our food, hahaha. But everyone around us was happily ringing theirs too, and this one little thing was so much fun 🤪!!!

Omil was busy even on a weekday!

They told us to use the self-service bar for water and pickles, so we went over—and cute ducks welcomed us 🐤 It had paper cups, napkins, wet wipes, pickles, and even a phone charger 👍

Our long-awaited food came out. Ahhh, is it not just the cutest ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ The Tot-tot-tot! Rubber Duck Omurice arrived first. The omurice (Japanese-style omelet rice) itself looked delicious, but the tiny ducks gathered together were sooo adorable ㅜㅠㅠㅠ

When the staff member brought it over, they said the ducks were a gift.... Giving us something this cute as a gift.. this place gets a perfect score.... 💯 + Try to find one more cute detail in the GIF 👼🍼💛

Crunchy corn fritters and finger gloves

The next dish was the crunchy corn fritters! I had been debating the side dishes, but I got fixated on the word “fritters,” so we ordered them 🙉 The combination of addictive corn and that white sauce was very, very good!

They gave us gloves underneath the corn fritters, and they were gloves you could wear on just your fingers? Such thoughtfulness.... 🫢👍👍 They were so useful—I could eat comfortably, take them off, then put them back on again haha.

The Sizzling Hot-Plate Cheese Cutlet I had been looking forward to most!!!!! When it comes out, they pour white cream cheese sauce onto the super-hot plate! The staff member cutely asked whether I wanted to take photos or a video before pouring the sauce 🙉 Blogger Suyeon: YES!!!!!!! And that is how I captured this glorious cheese cutlet 🫢...

I thought only the sauce would be full of cheese, but! There was plenty of cheese inside the donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) too!!! They gave us such a mountain of cream sauce that it spilled over every time I cut into it... but the sauce was delicious, so I scooped up the pork cutlet with a spoon, and before I knew it, I had eaten all the sauce.... 🫢.... I thought, of course there was a reason they gave us so much... 💛

Earlier, it had been full so I could not take photos of the restaurant, but on our way out there were empty seats, so I snapped some 🙉!!!

A comfortable meal with a baby

We had a cute meal at Omil and spent a comfortable time with my unnie and her cute baby... 💛 There were only two of us, but when they saw we had a baby with us, they offered to move us to a four-person table ㅠㅠㅠㅠ But it was a busy restaurant, and we did not want to take a four-person table in case a group of four came, so we ate at our table for two. I was so grateful for even this small kindness 🥹..
