Pork belly grilled for you in Magok-naru, Seoul: Ganeung Sikdang

In short

Ganeung Sikdang Magok-naru Station Branch is a dry-aged pork belly (samgyeopsal) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Doosan The Land Park Building D, by Exit 2 of Magok-naru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. Samgyeopsal for two costs 32,000 won and arrives almost fully grilled from the kitchen, and the 7,000-won beef soybean stew had the two of us finishing a bowl of rice each. With a bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles) to finish, Ganeung Sikdang is an easy, comfortable place for Korean BBQ in Magok-naru.

Samgyeopsal table setting at Ganeung Sikdang Magok-naru Station Branch
Magok-naru samgyeopsal grilled on the tabletop grill

This is my review of Ganeung Sikdang (가능식당), a meat restaurant in Magok-naru. I had a massage appointment near Magok Station, and while looking for a nearby restaurant for a Superchart tasting campaign, I found this place. The retro vibe was great, and the meat came out already grilled — it gave me this nostalgic feeling, like the days we used to grill samgyeopsal (pork belly) at home. The soybean stew here was also a standout. The two of us cleared a bowl of rice each in no time. Let me introduce the Magok-naru samgyeopsal and, honestly, the best soybean stew in Magok.

It's in Room 203, Building D of Doosan The Land Park, near Exit 2 of Magok-naru Station. There's an escalator next to a blue man-and-woman sculpture — take it up to the 2nd floor, then turn around to the other side, and you'll easily spot this Magok-naru restaurant. Yes, it's 'possible' (ganeung means 'possible' in Korean) haha!!

It's the first dry-aged pork restaurant in Magok-naru. They only use grade-1 domestic pork, so you can trust what you're eating.

Check out the great-value Magok-naru lunch menu too. The set with pork cutlet, mountain-high stir-fried pork, and doenjang stew bibimbap — the best soybean stew in Magok — is ₩10,000. If I get the chance, I definitely want to stop by for lunch next time.

Celebrity guest autograph and parking info displayed in the restaurant

Apparently actress Jeon Do-yeon visited in 2024. What's the connection there, I wonder haha. Free parking is available. In Magok-naru, it's 1 hour free until 17:00 for lunch, and 2 hours free after 17:00 for dinner.

I also got detail shots of the sizzling, appetizing Magok-naru samgyeopsal and the soybean stew that pairs so perfectly with it.

Is Ganeung Sikdang good for group dinners?

The interior is quite spacious. It looked great for couples on dates too, and since it holds up to 80 people, it's a solid choice as a group gathering spot in Magok-naru. Clean and comfortable, so it was a pleasant place to spend time in.

What we ordered and what it cost

  • Samgyeopsal (pork belly) for 2 ₩32,000
  • Soybean stew ₩7,000
  • 2 bowls of rice ₩2,000
  • Bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles) ₩7,000
  • Pepsi ₩2,500
Cold water served in a Del Monte bottle

The cold water came out in a Del Monte bottle, and it was so good I drank two cups before the meal. The basic side dishes and wrap greens came out too, typical of a Magok-naru meat restaurant.

Samgyeopsal that arrives already grilled

Ganeung Sikdang's samgyeopsal is 150g per serving for ₩16,000; we ordered 2 servings that day. The kitchen grills the meat almost all the way through before bringing it out with the lid on. A staff member cut it into bite-sized pieces for us, so it was really easy to eat.

Samgyeopsal grilling with bean sprouts and kimchi on the tabletop grill

Grilling sesame-oil-tossed bean sprouts and kimchi alongside made the aroma of the Magok-naru samgyeopsal even more appetizing. We also grilled fresh garlic with it. The slightly overcooked texture of the meat was exactly my thing too.

Beef soybean stew served with a bowl of rice

The 7,000-won beef soybean stew that ate our rice

The salted hairtail intestine relish went so well with the pork belly that we even asked for a refill and enjoyed it to our heart's content. The soybean stew was genuinely delicious. It's a beef doenjang jjigae for just ₩7,000. At lunch, the bibimbap set is ₩10,000 ^^ There was a sign that said 'refund if it's not tasty,' and I felt that confidence was fully earned. It was salty in the best way — a total rice thief. The rice bowl was generously filled too. The two of us each lightly cleared a bowl!!

We also wrapped it in lettuce, and they refilled the bean sprouts and kimchi for us, so we got to enjoy the Magok-naru samgyeopsal in many different ways. Frying the rice afterward turned out to be a real treat too.

A bowl of sweet and tangy bibim guksu
Ice bucket filled to the brim
Coke glass with ice and a Pepsi

Finishing with ice-cold bibim guksu

To finish, we had bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles), and it had that appetizing sweet-and-tangy flavor. I asked for extra ice to make it more refreshing, and they gave us a whole ice bucket full, so I could really feel the chewy texture of the noodles down to the last bite. The leftover ice went straight into a Coke glass, and we finished off with Pepsi.

If you want delicious samgyeopsal that comes out already grilled, plus the best soybean stew in Magok, near Magok-naru Station, how about giving Ganeung Sikdang, a Magok-naru meat restaurant, a try?
