Friday dinner duck BBQ with staff-pick wraps in Siheung: Grill Duck
In short
Grill Duck Hangari Barbecue is a duck restaurant in Okgil-dong, Siheung, directly across from Starfield Bucheon. On a Friday evening visit, the half-and-half duck (400g raw duck plus 400g marinated duck) came to ₩54,000, eaten the way the self-serve bar's staff-pick note suggests: chili strips with the raw duck, pickled radish wraps with the marinated duck, plus a complimentary duck soup. For a first visit to Grill Duck Hangari Barbecue, the half-and-half is a better call than picking just one cut.

01 Easy parking in Okgil-dong even at peak dinner time

Grill Duck Hangari Barbecue sits right across from Starfield Bucheon. It occupies an entire building, so it was easy to spot and find.

Walk around the back and there's a dedicated parking lot. It's quite spacious, so you won't struggle to find a spot, which makes it easy for families to visit ✨ Even though we came on a Friday evening, there were still plenty of open seats.
02 Inside Grill Duck: high ceilings and open window views

Inside, the high ceilings mean it never feels cramped. The floor-to-ceiling windows open up the view too, making the space feel even more pleasant 🖼️

True to its duck-restaurant identity, there are little duck figure decorations hanging all around the ceiling 🐤
03 Side dishes, the self-serve bar and the staff-pick wrap combos
Grill Duck's self-serve bar has spicy dressed mustard leaf kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, pickled radish, marinated garlic scapes, onion salad, plus ssamjang (dipping paste) and various sauces.

There's also lettuce, perilla leaves, cheongyang chili peppers, and shredded chili strips seasoned in sauce. Every vegetable was crisp and fresh, so I kept going back for more.

The self-serve bar has the staff's recommended combos written out. For raw duck: chili strips. For marinated duck: pickled radish. For BBQ: the spicy barbecue sauce. It was really handy when you're unsure what to pair with what ✨

At the table, perilla leaves, lettuce, ssamjang, garlic, dressed lettuce salad, pickled cheongyang chili, and marinated garlic scapes come as standard.

And it wasn't just any soup they gave us for free — it was duck soup...! The broth had finely chopped green onion and ground perilla seeds in it.
04 What comes with the ₩54,000 half-and-half duck?

We ordered the half-and-half duck (₩54,000). It comes with raw duck 400g and marinated duck 400g together, so you get to try both in one go 💞 Beyond that, a whole raw duck (800g) is ₩53,000, medium duck soup (1.5kg) is ₩35,000, Korean pork belly BBQ and duck BBQ are both ₩18,000 for 200g, and Korean pork chewy shoulder BBQ is ₩15,000 for 200g. There's a wide range of duck dishes to try here.

First up, the raw duck (400g). Vivid red and glossy — it looked fresh at a glance. It comes with garae-tteok (cylindrical rice cake) and thinly sliced potato.

The marinated duck (400g) comes topped with a red sauce. The duck is mixed with thinly sliced potato, onion, green onion, rice cake, and perilla leaves. Just so you know, the staff don't grill it for you — you grill it yourself. And it splatters quite a bit while cooking, so definitely bring an apron ⭐️
05 Tasting each cut at Grill Duck
Raw duck (400g): thick, chewy and satisfying

Grill Duck's raw duck is seriously thick!! Biting into a big piece and chewing was so satisfying. No gamey smell at all — clean and wonderfully chewy.

Following the staff pick, I made a wrap with chili strips on top. The sharp bite of the chili strips cut right through the richness of the duck. I tried it both as a wrap and dipped in the sauce.
It also went great with the thinly sliced, soy-based marinated garlic scapes.
tips: Raw duck has a chewy, springy texture, so make sure to chew it well. Take care not to swallow too quickly.
Marinated duck (400g): red sauce, but mild enough for the whole family

The marinated duck looks red and spicy, but it's not spicy at all. The sauce flavor isn't overpowering or sharp, so it seems like something everyone, young or old, could enjoy!

Personally, eating it together with the simmered perilla leaves was the best combo. The perilla aroma paired so well with the sauce that I kept reaching for more.

And of course, duck meat needs pickled radish wraps. It's almost like an unwritten rule how well they always go together, right?! The crisp, refreshing radish blended perfectly with the sauce — so good...💛

The rice cake, deeply soaked in the sauce, was also chewy and delicious.
06 Raw duck vs marinated duck: why order the half-and-half

To sum up, the two are totally different experiences. Raw duck is all about the chewy texture of the meat itself, while marinated duck is about the deep, simmered sauce flavor. So rather than ordering just one, I'd recommend trying the half-and-half combo like we did for your first visit ✨
It's a great spot to head to for dinner after shopping at Starfield, and just as convenient the other way around — eating first, then shopping. If you're wondering where to eat near Starfield Bucheon, definitely give Grill Duck a try! I'm planning to bring my parents here next time 💛
