Yeonnam-dong restaurant for terrace group gatherings: Classicdang
In short
Classicdang is a European café-style Italian restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. We had quattro funghi pizza, potato gnocchi, and Classic Lasagna, with terrace tables and group reservations making it great for dates or pre-wedding invitation gatherings. Verdict: the tender lasagna and light wood-fired pizza were the standouts.

A European-style Italian restaurant tucked into a Yeonnam-dong alley
Classicdang

A lovely Italian restaurant I found in a Yeonnam-dong alley! It has the feel of a European café, so I’d recommend it as a great Yeonnam-dong restaurant and a spot for a pre-wedding invitation gathering, too. It’s especially perfect to visit in weather like this.

It’s a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. Follow the Gyeongui Line Forest Park into Yeonnam-dong and keep going down the street, and this European-feeling restaurant is tucked away in an alley.

Since it is in an alley, there is no separate parking space, so drivers will need to use a nearby paid lot. Hours are 12:00–22:00 daily, with a break from 4–5 PM on weekdays.

You could check out the menu from outside, too! True to the name Classicdang, it mostly had classic Italian dishes such as pizza, pasta, and risotto. There was also a good selection of wine, beer, and other drinks, so I’d recommend it for gatherings as well.

What are the terrace and group seating like?
With its outdoor terrace, it even has the feel of a café abroad. The weather was cool that day and the sunshine was so lovely—it created the kind of mood that makes you imagine having brunch in France with a Mediterranean breeze.

Dining at an outdoor table in weather like this would be just right for the atmosphere. There were a generous two tables for two and two tables for four outside.

Inside, there were tables for about five parties, although most were tables for four. A group that visited at the same time had tables pushed together and dined as six, so it seemed well able to accommodate groups. Naver reservations were available from one to ten people, making this feel like a great Yeonnam-dong spot for group occasions such as pre-wedding invitation gatherings or family get-togethers.

The interior is rather compact and small, but it has the cozy feeling of being invited into someone’s home, which somehow made it even more relaxing. Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong is pet-friendly, and for terrace seats in particular, you do not need to bring a carrier—so it is a nice place to stop for brunch after walking your dog around Yeontral Park.

The basic setting included a spoon, fork, plate, water glass, and water, and it was set out soon after we were seated. Everything had a clean, bright feel, and the tableware was kept so neatly it looked new, which put me in a good mood even before eating. A lovely Yeonnam-dong date spot.

Quattro Fungi Pizza, Potato Gnocchi, and Classic Lasagna
This time, we ordered Quattro Fungi Pizza (₩23,000), Gnocchi (potato gnocchi, ₩17,000), and Classic Lasagna (₩18,000).

Tenderly cooked Classic Lasagna
We ordered the lasagna because it is said to be Classicdang’s signature! Maybe because the lasagna sheets were not too thick, it was tenderly cooked all the way through. The tomato-based sauce was slightly loose, so it was delicious even spooned up almost like soup. The sauce had soaked right into the pasta layers, and with every bite, the stacked sheets of pasta clung so satisfyingly in the mouthㅜ

The light Quattro Fungi Pizza
Quattro Fungi Pizza comes with four kinds of mushrooms, and although it has cheese and a cream base, it was light rather than rich and very tasty.

The balance between the pleasantly firm mushrooms and the chewy, soft pizza dough was good, too. It was a wood-fired pizza with a thin crust, so it did not feel heavy at all.

Potato gnocchi with cream sauce
The potato gnocchi came in a white cream sauce, with small, bite-sized pieces of house-made gnocchi that really delivered that crisp-outside, soft-inside texture. The creamy sauce paired with it so well!

It is a great place for a date with friends or a partner, and group reservations are available, so it would also be perfect for group gatherings and pre-wedding invitation meetups. Write a Naver photo review to receive a Zero Cola or iced Americano, so definitely claim that drink, too.
