Mapo Korean restaurant, spicy duck & cheese pancake: Gongjung Dodeok
In short
Gongjung Dodeok is a Korean restaurant with outdoor seating beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul. I had spicy minari duck, perilla seed duck soup, and a cheese potato pancake together, and the spicy-savory combination was especially good. Verdict: a memorable choice for a team dinner near Daeheung Station.

Today I visited Gongjung Dodeok (공중도덕), a great Seoul outdoor Korean restaurant right beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park. Looking at the lush green park, it felt like I had escaped to the countryside even though I was in Seoul—and above all, the spicy duck bulgogi, duck soup, and savory cheese potato pancake were so charming 🧡
Gongjung Dodeok, a Seoul outdoor duck restaurant

Visiting Gongjung Dodeok beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park
As you walk along Gyeongui Line Forest Park, you will spot Gongjung Dodeok, a hanok-style restaurant known for duck dishes. Since restaurants along the Gongdeok stretch of the park do not have dedicated parking, come on foot or use a nearby parking lot if you are driving.

Inside, the private rooms seat 4–6 people, and group gatherings of up to 30 can be reserved. If you are looking for a restaurant for a work dinner near Gongdeok or Daeheung Station, I recommend booking ahead.

We loved the atmosphere of the outdoor pyeongsang (raised wooden platform) seating, so that is where we settled in.
Gongjung Dodeok menu and what we ordered

- Gongjung half-and-half set [seasoned duck + grilled duck + duck potato soup]: medium (2 people) ₩69,000 / large (3–4 people) ₩99,000
- Gongjung spicy duck set: medium (2 people) ₩66,000 / large (3–4 people) ₩96,000
- Gongjung grilled duck set: medium (2 people) ₩66,000 / large (3–4 people) ₩96,000
- Gongjung piled-high duck set: medium (2 people) ₩63,000 / large (3–4 people) ₩91,000
- Kimchi pancake ₩19,000 / barley shrimp and minari pancake ₩22,000 / cheese potato pancake ₩24,000
- Gongjung Dodeok yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) ₩25,000
Gongjung Dodeok has lots of Korean pancake options too, which would be so good with makgeolli (Korean rice wine) 👏
What we ordered

For banchan (Korean side dishes), we got green onion kimchi, seasoned vegetables, pickled radish slices for wraps, sauces, and perilla leaves~!

Once the spicy duck, duck soup, and cheese potato pancake all arrived, there was barely enough room left on the table..!
Spicy duck bulgogi piled with minari

Gongjung Dodeok's duck bulgogi, with its mouthwatering red appearance.
There was minari (water celery) underneath the duck, and it was a perfect match with the spicy bulgogi. There were mushrooms too, so the texture was amazing 😆

I loaded a fresh perilla leaf bigger than my face with pickled radish and duck, then took a hearty wrap—and honestly, this was paradise haha.
Duck soup topped with perilla seed powder and perilla leaves

The duck soup was generously topped with perilla seed powder and perilla leaves. The duck potato soup was likewise packed with meat, mushrooms, and potatoes, so I think this dish alone would be filling.
I mixed the sauce well and had it with the duck soup—such proper nourishment for chilly weather.

A hot bowl of rice was essential too, so we added one more haha.
Cheese potato pancake that pairs perfectly with spicy duck

Gongjung Dodeok's potato pancake had a slightly different look from the cheese potato pancakes I usually eat.

Thinly sliced potatoes were topped with mozzarella and sweet corn, making it feel twice as savory 😋
Ah! And if you order the duck bulgogi, I ⭐️absolutely recommend the cheese potato pancake⭐️. Eating the pancake with the spicy duck lets the cheese mellow the heat, so it tastes twice as good~😉

Gongjung Dodeok, an atmospheric outdoor spot by Gyeongui Line Forest Park, became even lovelier after sunset ✨

If you are looking for a meat restaurant for a work dinner near Daeheung Station, do visit the slightly special Gongjung Dodeok..🥹
