Mapo café by the Han River for affogato: Puru Papa

In short

Puru Papa Hangang MAPOINT Branch is a café in Mapo, Seoul, where you can enjoy desserts and drinks while looking out over the Han River. I had an affogato, a sweet signature latte, and takeaway carrot cake, then lingered over the river view from the floor-to-ceiling windows. A great stop for a cool dessert during a walk.

Puru Papa, visited after a walk along the Han River

After lunch, I headed to the Han River. The weather was lovely, and after walking for a while, I wanted something cool. That is how I ended up at Puru Papa, a great dessert spot in Mangwon Hangang Park.

Exterior of Puru Papa near the parking lot

It is near Mangwon Hangang Park. It takes just two minutes to walk there from the parking lot. The sign is large, so you can spot it even from a distance.

A bright café with floor-to-ceiling windows

Interior with a long counter and espresso machine

Inside, there is a long counter with an espresso machine in the middle. The high, open ceiling makes the space feel roomy. One wall is all glass, so it stays bright even during the day.

Baguette ice cream notice in front of the counter

There is a little notice in front of the counter. One menu item is served on a baguette instead of a cone.

A menu where you can choose your milk

The menu is shown both on the wall and on a screen. It is divided into coffee, lattes, non-coffee drinks, ice cream, bingsu (shaved ice), smoothies, and ade. There are separate dessert and bakery options, too. There were so many choices that it took me a while to decide.

Milk selection guide for lattes

There is a milk guide posted beside it. It lists Sangha Farm, Denmark, high-protein soy milk, oat milk, and lactose-free milk. You can choose when ordering a latte. Six options are listed.

Protein shake guide

Premium ice cream has its own sign, and there is a protein shake guide beside it. Since it is in the Hangang Park area, I guess people stop by after a run, too.

Afternoon sold-out menu notice

Since I went in the afternoon, a few items were sold out, including bingsu and coconut drinks. If there is something you really want, it is better to go early.

Affogato topped with soft serve

Affogato topped with soft serve

I ordered an affogato. They pour coffee into the cup and top it with soft serve. The cup looks small, but the portion is just right.

As you get to the bottom, the aroma of the coffee beans comes through. Scoop them together, and it tastes like coffee ice cream.

Affogato to eat before it melts

It is best to eat it before it melts. I ate outside, and by the time I finished, the heat had faded away.

A sweet signature latte and carrot cake

Sweet signature latte

I also ordered the signature latte. It is sweeter than a regular café latte. If you like sweet drinks, this is the one for you.

Takeaway carrot cake

I got the carrot cake to go. It has a little carrot-shaped decoration on top. From the side, you can see all the layers. The staff thoughtfully included forks, too.

Seats where you can eat while looking at the Han River

Round table seating by floor-to-ceiling windows

I took my order into the indoor seating area. I sat at a round table in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. The round table is nice for sitting face-to-face. It also connects to an outdoor deck.

Floor-to-ceiling window seat with a view of the Han River and bridge

The Han River is right there beyond the glass. You can see all the way to the bridge across the river. At this Mangwon Hangang Park dessert spot, the seating is half the experience. I sat there looking out for quite a while.

Carrot cake before cutting

I cut into the carrot cake. The fork went in smoothly.

The cream is rich and has a cinnamon aroma. The cake layers are fairly moist. Even though I carried it as takeaway, it held its shape perfectly.

There are bits of carrot to chew on. It is sweet, so I thought it went better with the affogato than with the latte.

A Hangang Park café visited by customers on bicycles

Customers kept coming in after parking their bicycles. It seems like a nice place to stop during a walk. You could also take your drink out and keep walking.

A Hangang Park café that is easy to stop by on a walk

If you are looking for a dessert spot in Mangwon Hangang Park, I recommend Puru Papa. The affogato has strong coffee, so it does not leave you with only sweetness. There are seats with a Han River view, so even if you order takeaway, you can sit and eat. It is a great Mangwon Hangang Park dessert café to stop by during a walk.
