Korean BBQ for two in Yongsan, Seoul: pork trio and somaek at Yukmong
In short
Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store (육몽 용산직영점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, set over two floors near exits 1 and 14 of Samgakji Station. Two diners shared the 550g Korean pork (Handon) set for 69,900 won with knife-cut pork belly, whole pork neck and galmaegisal (pork skirt), all grilled by staff. They paired it with caviar cheese steamed egg and somaek (soju mixed with beer), and the portion was generous for two. With juicy, thick pork neck and chewy galmaegisal, Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store is a safe pick for anything from a date to a group work dinner.

Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store: a Korean BBQ restaurant near Samgakji Station
Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store (육몽 용산직영점) is famous as a great Korean BBQ spot near Samgakji Station in Yongsan. Your potato is back today! I visited Yukmong, which is said to be one of the best BBQ places around Samgakji, near Yongsan.

It's the BBQ place you've been dreaming of. Even the name "Yukmong" (meat dream) makes meat lovers curious about what's coming, and it has a fantastic charm. You can order the Korean pork set with knife-cut pork belly, thick pork neck and skirt meat all at once, or Yukmong's own signature Shrek galbi (ribs) as your main,

and the sides are packed too: caviar cheese egg custard that makes the meat shine, a top-notch doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), gochujang lotus-style minari beef tartare and more. Having the staff grill for us was a nice bonus, and the interior is great too, so I'd recommend it as a BBQ place worth visiting near Samgakji Station in Yongsan!

Korean pork set, 550g for ₩69,900: what two people ate
Yukmong's signature Korean pork set comes with knife-cut pork belly, thick pork neck and skirt meat, 550g in total for ₩69,900. I liked that the basic side dishes alone nearly filled the whole table.
There's spring onion salad for the meat and lots of sauces, so if you love dipping things like I do, it's a fun meal.

We ordered Yukmong's signature set, the Korean pork set with knife-cut pork belly, thick pork neck and skirt meat: 550g total, ₩69,900.

The pork neck was ridiculously thick, and I thought if I grilled this myself it would be a 100% disaster. Luckily the staff or the owner grills at Yukmong, so that worry was gone ~

Caviar cheese egg custard and doenjang jjigae
Before the meat was grilled, let me quickly show you Yukmong's sides. This is the caviar cheese egg custard..! The name alone is not ordinary, and in person all I could do was gasp ^^
The taste too: definitely number 1 among all the egg custards I've ever eaten! Sweet, salty, popping in your mouth, it was crazy.

The doenjang jjigae, which has a slightly cheonggukjang (strong fermented soybean) feel, is the best side to have along with meat ~

Was the portion enough for two?
The 550g Korean pork set was more than I expected for two people, which made it even better! You just grab the golden-brown meat as it's grilled for you, and that's it.

They don't separate the cuts, so you end up eating at random. What's certain is that the thick pork neck was incredibly juicy, the chewy galmaegisal (pork skirt) was tasty, and the knife-cut pork belly had a tenderness that showed why it earns its name ~

Getting to Yukmong from Samgakji Station, and the interior
To find Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store, come out of Samgakji Station exit 1 or 14, turn once and keep going straight and you'll see it right away.

I liked how the dreamy, hazy image set up at the entrance and the Oriental-style interior put you in the mood for meat. Both the 1st and 2nd floors are Yukmong, so group reservations are easy too. It works for couple dates, family meals and company dinners.

There are sets at various price points so you can order to fit your party size, which is another reason I'd recommend it as a group-reservation BBQ place near Samgakji Station in Yongsan.

It's a favorite of celebrities like Jonathan and Patricia, actor Lee Kyu-hyung and comedian Lee Chang-ho, so you can go with confidence ~

Wrapping up
That was my review of finishing off the Korean pork set, caviar cheese egg custard and somaek at Yukmong Yongsan Direct Store, a BBQ restaurant near Samgakji Station in Yongsan.
The meat quality and juiciness lived up to the name Yukmong and left an impression. The well-packed spread is its trademark, so I fully recommend it as a BBQ place to visit around Yongsan or Samgakji!
