Samgakji shabu-shabu restaurant on CatchTable: Shabu in Seoul
In short
Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch is a shabu-shabu restaurant 200m from Exit 3 of Samgakji Station in Yongsan, Seoul. A noon weekday booking made on CatchTable brought a Grade 1 black pork belly set and a neck shabu-shabu set cooked in clear mushroom broth, with an extra order of rice paper for wrapping the pork like a Vietnamese roll and egg porridge to finish. Partitioned tables and a private room make Shabu in Seoul an easy choice for a date or a family meal out.

Noon on a weekday: do you need a CatchTable reservation?

Since it's such a well-known restaurant near Samgakji Station, even at noon on a weekday the tables were completely full! We had already reserved through CatchTable, so we could go straight in!😙

The staff asked for our reservation name, confirmed it, and let us straight in — but what's this! Our table was already set up right on time for our reservation!😳 It made us feel taken care of, which just put us in an even better mood!

What's on the menu at Shabu in Seoul

Here's the menu board at this Samgakji favorite, Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch, for reference✨
The sauce setup and what we ordered

For the shabu-shabu, the table came set with sesame sauce, chili sauce, a yuzu-flavored sauce, plus minced garlic and minced chili!
I ordered the Grade 1 black pork belly shabu-shabu set + Grade 1 black pork neck shabu-shabu set + Zero Coke + (add-on order → rice paper)

After chatting with my friend for a bit, our food came out fast! The vegetables looked really fresh, and I heard they only use top-grade meat — you could tell just by looking at it!🐷♥️
The vegetables also seemed extra fresh, apparently sourced fresh every day straight from the farm🥬🍄👍🏻✨
You pour the sesame sauce, chili sauce, and yuzu-flavored sauce into your dish and mix in minced garlic and chili to taste! For me, sesame 1 : chili 2 : garlic and chili was the tastiest combo!

Here's the guide on how to enjoy Shabu in Seoul and the broth options (I went with their recommended clear mushroom broth!)
Black pork shabu-shabu in clear mushroom broth, wrapped in rice paper

Time to dig in!🤤
I dipped the meat generously into my own mixed sauce (sesame 1 : chili 2 : minced garlic and chili)... and wow, it was so good😭

And you absolutely have to try wrapping it in rice paper! The chewy rice paper with the meat, various vegetables, and sauce — pure bliss!❤️🔥

So I ended up ordering extra rice paper on top!ㅎ

Yes. What you're looking at is a panda taking a bubble bath ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ🐻❄️🖤 (the taste, though, is totally chewy and delicious!)
The rice course included in the set: egg porridge in clear mushroom broth
The set course includes a meal at the end! Since I chose the clear mushroom broth, they prepared it as egg porridge for me. (Clear mushroom → egg porridge / spicy mushroom → rosé risotto / crab doenjang → doenjang rice roll / sukiyaki → yakisoba / beef tomato → tomato risotto — keep this in mind!)

The finished egg porridge!🥚 Light and savory, it was so delicious! My friend and I were both super satisfied with the whole meal!👍🏻

At the end they even brought out omija tea (five-flavor berry tea), and that sense of being pampered right up to the end put me in such a good mood♥️

I ended up polishing off every last bit, it was that good🫣♥️
