Boryeong brewpub en route to Taean: 3 bottled beers, Daecheon Brewery

On the day I was heading to Taean with a friend, we passed through Boryeong on the way, so I stopped by Daecheon Brewery — a place I always visit whenever I'm in Boryeong.

When people think of Boryeong they usually think of the sea and seafood spots first, but oddly enough, Daecheon Brewery is the first thing that comes to my mind. It's a brewery where you can get their own craft beer, and the pizza is genuinely delicious too. A real must-visit in Boryeong.

Arriving at Daecheon Brewery near Daecheon Beach, from the entrance to the interior, everything has this exotic, overseas-resort vibe, so you really feel like you're on a trip.

What's the vibe at Daecheon Brewery? A space like an overseas brewery

Daecheon Brewery feels different from a typical pub right from the atmosphere. The spacious interior with resort-like decor made my friend and I start snapping photos the moment we walked in. I'd recommend it as part of a Boryeong trip itinerary.

On one side, various bottled beers including Boryeong Mud Lager were displayed along with merchandise, which was fun to browse.

It was special to find local craft beer made right in Boryeong, and I thought it'd also be a good pick for anyone looking for a Daecheon travel souvenir.

Double pepperoni that beat most wood-fired pizza places

What we ordered that day: Double Pepperoni Pizza and Diablo Shrimp Pizza!

Honestly, Daecheon Brewery is famous for its craft beer, but I'd keep coming back just for the pizza.

The Double Pepperoni Pizza especially exceeded expectations. It was genuinely delicious enough to put a lot of dedicated wood-fired pizza places to shame.

The freshly baked dough had chewy, savory edges, and it was loaded with salty pepperoni and cheese, so my friend and I both said "this is delicious!" at the same time after our first bite.

If you like pepperoni, I'd really recommend giving this a try!

The spicy Diablo Shrimp was totally my style too

The Diablo Shrimp Pizza also suited my taste perfectly.

Plump shrimp paired with a spicy sauce that was noticeably spicier than I expected — which I actually loved. I like spicy food, so this level of heat was exactly my style.

The savory cheese and the spicy heat worked well together, so I kept reaching for more. Alternating between it and the Double Pepperoni made each pizza's distinct charm stand out even more, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

Had to drive, so I bought beer in bottles to drink at the lodging!

After eating the pizza I really craved a craft beer, but since I had to drive all the way to Taean that day, I held off at the pub.

Instead, I bought Boryeong Mud Lager, Daecheon Golden Ale, and Wonsando IPA to take with us. Picking out the regionally flavored Boryeong Mud Lager, the Daecheon Golden Ale, and the hop-forward Wonsando IPA felt like grabbing travel souvenirs too.

The pizza portions were generous, so I asked them to pack up the leftovers, and they packed it neatly. We carried it straight to Taean, and once we arrived at the pool villa, we pulled it back out to eat — it hit differently eating it at a travel lodging! It wasn't just a one-time meal but ended up becoming the travel food that carried through to Taean with us, which made it even more memorable.

There's clearly a reason I keep coming back every time I'm in Boryeong.

A place with an exotic atmosphere, delicious pizza, and Boryeong's own craft beer. Next time I pass through Boryeong, I'm probably going to stop by Daecheon Brewery again!
