Brewpub date after a Daecheon Beach sunset: Daecheon Brewery

Today I left Gunsan for the first time in a while and went to Daecheon. Whenever I go to Daecheon Beach, I think of grilled clams or a raw fish restaurant first, but this time I tried something a little different: Daecheon Brewery, a good eat near the beach. They make their own craft beer using mud, a Boryeong specialty, and it's not just a pub for drinking. They also have pizza and platters, so it was a nice place to have dinner and a drink! Let me introduce it~ haha

What kind of place is Daecheon Brewery?

Daecheon Brewery is a brewery and pizza pub at 65-71 Daeryangbiseonjae-gil, Boryeong-si, Chungnam, where they brew craft beer themselves. It's open 12:00 to 22:00 with a break from 15:00 to 17:00, closed every Tuesday, and you can reserve through Naver. Their own craft beer and handmade pizza are the main attractions.

What makes it special is that it's not just any craft beer place: they have beer made with mud, a Boryeong specialty. The signature is the Boryeong Mud Lager, and there's also a gift set of six 330ml bottles, so anyone visiting Daecheon or Boryeong and looking for a slightly special souvenir might want to take a look.

It's near Daecheon Beach, so it's good to visit after seeing the sea, and since you can have a meal and beer in one place, it also worked well as part of a Daecheon trip.

Heading over after a Friday sunset at Daecheon Beach: how's the parking?

I visited at 6 pm on a Friday. We'd watched the sunset and taken a walk at Daecheon Beach, and were looking for a place to eat as a date. The way there is a little secluded.

There's a dedicated parking lot, so no worries ^__^ And even if the secluded spot makes drinking tricky, don't worry: they offer a pickup service for groups of 8 or more ^_^

Besides the parking lot there's also an outdoor terrace, which would be perfect in weather like this haha

Outside atmosphere of Daecheon Brewery: fine for drivers too?

On a first visit, it definitely has that distinctive brewery feel rather than a typical pub. It's totally different from the raw fish and clam grill restaurants you usually see around Daecheon Beach, so I think it will catch the eye of people like me who came to Daecheon and want something other than the usual.

And since it sells alcohol, you might worry about driving, but besides beer they have coffee and other drinks, so you don't have to drink. That's why we ordered Boryeong Mud Sparkling Water and cola that day.

Is the interior of Daecheon Brewery good for a date?

Personally I liked the inside better than the outside. It feels less like a plain bar and more like a space where you can rest for a bit on a trip, eat, and have a drink. It would be good with friends in the evening after a Daecheon Beach trip, and it also looked nice for couples ordering a pizza and craft beer and talking slowly.

Above all, I enjoyed how they blended Daecheon's local character into the craft beer. It's not a common franchise pub; it definitely felt like something you can only experience in Boryeong.

The inside is totally exotic, right? It's nicely decorated. The space is very large too, perfect for groups. If you come to Daecheon Beach, I don't think there's a space quite like this. It looks like a pub abroad to anyone!!!

Pop-up store: merch and craft beer as gifts

Daecheon Brewery is a craft beer and pizza place, but they also sell the craft beer as gifts. There's a separate merch space too, which was fun to browse. Let's take a look together~ haha

So pretty, right? haha The packaging and sets are perfect for gifts. There's a variety of beer types and flavors, so I think anyone, of any age or gender, could enjoy it.

The brewery is inside, so you can tell it's a real craft beer place.

How to order and the menu at Daecheon Brewery

The menu is more varied than I expected. Craft beer is the main thing, but they don't only sell beer: from platters to pizza, there's food that's good for sharing. If several people visit, a platter plus an extra pizza to share looked like a good combination too.

They also have coffee and drinks for people who can't drink beer, so even if someone in your group doesn't drink, it's no big burden. Note that the Daecheon Sea BBQ Platter needs a reservation, so if you're coming for that, I recommend checking ahead!

What the two of us ordered

After some deliberation, we ordered the following.

• Solo platter
• Gorgonzola pizza
• Boryeong Mud Sparkling Water
• Cola

There were two of us, and ordering a platter and a pizza together made a pretty good combination. Now we sit and wait for the food. haha

The solo platter: how's the portion for two?

The solo platter at Daecheon Brewery isn't overwhelmingly big, so it was good to order with something else like pizza and share. Personally, if you're drinking beer at Daecheon Brewery, I think it's good to order a platter like this.

You can taste several things at once, so it gets less boring than eating one dish, and it clearly works as beer food, which suits the brewery setting. For two people like us, I also recommend the solo platter plus one pizza.

How the gorgonzola pizza tastes

The gorgonzola pizza at Daecheon Brewery had a salty, nutty cheese flavor with gorgonzola's distinctive richness. I thought the platter alone might feel a little lacking, so we ordered it too, and it turned out to be a good choice.

Picking up a slice of pizza while eating the platter was a better combination than I expected. Beer lovers will instantly understand why people eat pizza with beer, lol. If the platter is mostly meat, you can switch to pizza now and then, so the dishes never felt repetitive.

What is Boryeong Mud Sparkling Water?

I ordered Boryeong Mud Sparkling Water out of curiosity because of the name; it's a local-flavor drink at Daecheon Brewery. When I first saw it on the menu I thought, 'Wait... water with mud in it?' lol, but since Daecheon Brewery has so many items that play up Boryeong's local character, it was fun that they have even this kind of drink.

If you've traveled to Daecheon or Boryeong, I think trying one local-flavor item like this is better than your usual soda. We ordered cola too and drank them in turns while eating.

Couldn't drink because of driving: craft beer to go in bottles

I brought my car, so I couldn't drink the craft beer at Daecheon Brewery, but I felt I had to try it. So I bought some ^__^

Why I recommend Daecheon Brewery as a good eat near Daecheon Beach

When people think of Daecheon, they usually think of grilled clams, raw fish and seafood first.
