I was trying to figure out what to eat in Yeouido and ended up craving Korean snack food, so I headed to Hyeonseonine at IFC Mall. When a full meal feels like too much but you still can't decide what to grab quick, nothing beats tteokbokki, haha.

Full house at 6pm: taking an outdoor table

I got to Hyeonseonine IFC Mall around 6, and maybe because it was dinner time, the tables inside were almost completely full. I was a bit surprised there were more people than I expected. With no seats free, I ended up eating at the tables set up outside!

There's a self-serve bar where you can grab whatever you need yourself,

basics like spoons, side plates, and pickled radish are all there at the self-serve bar,

and if you're worried about splashing your clothes, there are aprons ready too, so you can just grab one and use it without any hassle.

What comes in the 23,000 won Hyeonseon-i Set?

Since I wanted to try a bit of everything, I looked over the menu and went with the Hyeonseon-i Set. It comes with tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks, and a rice ball together — perfect for when you want to sample a bit of everything.

When you order tteokbokki, sundae, and fried snacks separately it's honestly kind of a hassle deciding what to pick, but one set solves it all at once, haha. After a short wait, everything came out together, and with the tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and rice ball all laid out, it really felt like a proper spread of Korean snack food.

How does the tteokbokki taste? Spicy and sweet

I started with the tteokbokki. The rice cakes were nice and chewy with the sauce soaked in well, and the sauce style was spicy-sweet.

It wasn't just spicy — there was a sweetness alongside it that kept me reaching for more.

Grab a rice cake, grab a fish cake, sip a bit of the broth, and before you know it you're just eating nonstop, haha.

And of course, no tteokbokki without sundae! The sundae had a chewy yet soft texture, and it paired really well with the tteokbokki as expected.

Instead of eating it plain, dipping it lightly into the tteokbokki sauce added that spicy-sweet kick and made it even tastier. Snack-restaurant sundae really has to be dipped in tteokbokki broth to hit right.

And the surprisingly filling rice ball. Instead of being shaped into a round ball, it was just mixed together well and I scooped it up spoonful by spoonful.

Eating it this way was actually more convenient, and it went well alongside the tteokbokki, haha.

Fried snacks: vegetable, kimmari, squid and mandu

Next up, the fried snacks! I dipped the crispy fried pieces straight into the tteokbokki sauce, and honestly, that combo never fails. It comes with vegetable fritters, kimmari (fried seaweed rice rolls), fried squid, and fried mandu (dumplings). Having a good variety made it fun to try one of each.

With the crispy texture of the fried snacks plus the spicy-sweet tteokbokki sauce, I just kept eating.

Worth it when you want Korean snack food in Yeouido?

Personally, when I eat tteokbokki I like to order fried snacks alongside it, and this time was no exception — good call as always. Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch is a great stop when you're suddenly craving tteokbokki in Yeouido; between the tteokbokki, sundae, the range of fried snacks (vegetable, kimmari, squid, mandu), and the rice ball, it's a spread that should satisfy anyone who loves Korean snack food. It had been a while since I'd had this kind of meal, so maybe that's why it tasted so good, haha.
