I went to Haesanggung, a seafood spot in Yeongjong. I wanted a menu the whole family could eat together, and since we were in Yeongjong, I really wanted to properly enjoy some seafood. What sold me was that there's a set menu where you don't just get octopus stir-fry — you also get kalguksu (noodle soup) and pancake, so it's perfect for a family meal out! It's already a well-known place that's been on TV, and my mom's friend went and said it was amazing, so my expectations were high! 🥹

We ordered the Haesanggung set for 4 at ₩93,000. It came with 2 octopus stir-fries, 2 seafood kalguksu, 1 whole octopus pancake, and 4 turmeric rice. You don't have to order everything separately — you get to try all of Haesanggung's signature dishes at once, so I'd recommend the set if it's your first visit.

With octopus stir-fry, kalguksu, and pancake all coming out, the table filled up fast. There's something fun about a family sharing bites of everything! haha

Whoa! An entire octopus, whole! 🐙🦐 If we'd only had the octopus stir-fry and kalguksu it might have felt like something was missing, but the crispy pancake made everything feel so much more filling.

A whole octopus went into this, fried until it was insanely crispy. The crunchy pancake paired with the chewy octopus made for such a great texture combo! You've got to have seafood pancake when you're in Yeongjong~

Spicy octopus stir-fry with turmeric rice

The main dish, octopus stir-fry, looks appetizing just from the visuals. Plump octopus with a spicy sauce that practically demands rice. 🥹

Mix the octopus stir-fry into the turmeric rice that comes with it and a whole bowl disappears in no time. It's not your average sauce — sweet and spicy in a way that keeps you reaching back for more. Turmeric rice looks like it might have a strong scent from its yellow color, but eaten with the octopus stir-fry it blended in well without being overpowering. The octopus stir-fry is a bit too spicy for kids, so ours mostly stuck to the kalguksu and pancake~

Mild seafood kalguksu, the dish a child can eat

After the spicy octopus stir-fry, a bite of hot seafood kalguksu pairs so perfectly. You know how it is, right?

If the octopus stir-fry is the bold main, the kalguksu is what soothes your palate in between. It was also fairly kid-friendly when we visited with our noodle-loving child, which made for a satisfying family meal setup. A bite of octopus stir-fry, a bite of pancake, then some hot kalguksu broth — different dishes, but the combination worked so well together.

I'd recommend Haesanggung as a spot for family meals in Yeongjong! Since people often visit Yeongjong for outings or trips, many are looking for a restaurant the whole family can go to together. Being able to enjoy octopus stir-fry, kalguksu, and pancake all in one visit made it a great choice for a group.

Adults who love spicy octopus stir-fry and kids who can eat the kalguksu or pancake — everyone was fully satisfied! Looking at the menu, they have set options sized for 2 to 4 people, which made ordering easy. If you want something even more indulgent, the abalone octopus stir-fry looks worth trying too! Next time I visit, I'd love to try the abalone octopus set~
