Recommending an octopus stir-fry spot in Yeongjong today — Haesanggung, a great find near Inspire Resort with seafood kalguksu and the Haesanggung course set!

After visiting Incheon Airport, I wanted proper Korean food on a Yeongjong drive, and that's how I found Haesanggung 😊 There are plenty of great restaurants around Yeongjong with ocean views, but Haesanggung is famous as a local favorite, so I'd been wanting to try it for a while.
It's also close to Inspire Resort, so it's a great pick during a Yeongjong trip or hotel staycation :)

Inside Haesanggung and its parking lot
Inside the restaurant

The first thing I noticed on arrival was the huge parking lot! Most people get around Yeongjong by car, so having plenty of spaces in front and beside the restaurant meant I could show up without worrying about parking at all!

The restaurant is in its own standalone building, and the spacious, comfortable interior looked great for family meals or group gatherings too! The relaxed Yeongjong scenery through the window put me in a good mood even before the food arrived haha
What comes with the Haesanggung course set?
Haesanggung menu

This time I ordered the Haesanggung course set! It brings together the restaurant's signature dishes — octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu, whole octopus pancake, and turmeric rice — so it's what I'd recommend most for first-time visitors!

Haesanggung apparently won the grand prize for octopus stir-fry and octopus pancake at Incheon Jung-gu's local specialty food competition, and one bite makes it completely believable!
Whole octopus pancake, one octopus laid on top
Whole octopus pancake

Personally, the dish that impressed me most was the whole octopus pancake!
The visual alone is overwhelming — a plump whole octopus sitting right on top!? I'd never had a pancake like this before hahaha

It was crispy outside and moist inside, and the shrimp scattered throughout added extra texture!

Every bite had that savory, crispy quality still going strong — I get why it's Haesanggung's signature dish.
Cabbage salad

The side dishes were neatly arranged too. House-made kimchi, bean sprouts, and black sesame cabbage salad! I could feel the care in each one, and they all went well with the main dishes.
How was Haesanggung's seafood kalguksu broth and noodles?

Haesanggung's other star dish, seafood kalguksu! Ta-da. It comes in a huge bowl piled high, and the visual alone earns a pass.
The first sip of the broth was seriously refreshing.
There was deep umami from the clams and seafood, and it wasn't overpowering, so I kept spooning it up!

The noodles were nice and chewy too, and went well with the broth. Switching between the spicy octopus stir-fry and the mild seafood kalguksu made for a great balance.
How spicy is the octopus stir-fry, and how is the octopus?
Octopus stir-fry and the somyeon review event

Genuinely delicious octopus stir-fry 🌶️ There was a subtle smoky char, and the octopus was so springy.
Not chewy at all, just tender bites with a really great texture!

Octopus caught near the West Sea really does taste different, whoa.. 👍
More than anything, it wasn't just spicy for the sake of it — it had real savory depth, so I kept reaching for more!

Turns out they don't use artificial capsaicin — the sauce is made from aged gochugaru (red pepper flakes), garlic, and other ingredients, which probably explains the clean finish even after eating it.
Turmeric rice
Eating it with the turmeric rice that comes alongside is a fantastic combo. 🍚
Piling the spicy octopus stir-fry on top of the rice, and a whole bowl disappears in no time — pure magic. 😋
A walk by the sea after lunch at Haesanggung

After the meal, you can take a short stroll around the restaurant! Being close to the sea, it's a great spot to soak in that relaxed Yeongjong vibe~ If you're looking for a good restaurant near Inspire Resort, want a hearty meal during a Yeongjong drive, or just want great octopus stir-fry and seafood kalguksu, I'd strongly recommend Haesanggung.
The generous Haesanggung course set let me properly enjoy the flavors of Yeongjong — a satisfying meal. I'd definitely come back ❤️
