Gangnam tailor shop for wedding-parent custom suits: Tag Suit

In short

Tag Suit is a reservation-only custom tailor shop in Gangnam, Seoul. I chose fabric, shirt, and tie details for a wedding-parent package, then returned about 2 weeks later for fitting and alterations. Verdict: the body-shape adjustments and reasonable pricing were especially satisfying.

Parking in Gangnam is always a worry, right? Valet fees are so expensive, and there often is not even a space available, so I hesitate to drive there. But Tag Suit, a Gangnam tailor shop for custom formalwear, has parking in front of the building as well as underground parking.

Custom-suit consultations by reservation

When you enter, there are already so many custom suits hanging up, even though it is a relatively new business. I guess good places get known quickly.

Reservation consultations underway in the shop

Lots of people were in consultations, but Tag Suit operates 100% by reservation, so they really put their all into consulting with every customer.

There are consultation areas throughout the shop. It seemed they consult with up to about three parties at a time.

There is a changing room and a full-length mirror in the shop, so we could change comfortably during the consultation.

Custom-suit prices and fixed pricing

  • Korean-fabric custom suit from ₩299,000
  • Imported-fabric custom suit from ₩630,000
  • Korean-blend fabric + custom shirt + tie package from ₩490,000

At other custom-suit shops, there is an added charge for every little thing, right? Tag Suit operates with fixed pricing. I researched so many places because I wanted to have custom suits made for both sets of parents. It was much cheaper than other shops. The prices are really reasonable, yet the suit quality is good, which is probably why there are so many customers.

Choosing everything from fabric to shirt details

Consultation for choosing custom-suit fabric

There are so many fabrics. They first explained the product I had booked, then compared it with the fabrics above it so I could choose. Naturally, the more expensive the fabric, the better it was.

Comparing standard and premium Korean fabrics

I had a consultation for Korean fabric. I compared the standard Korean fabric with the premium fabric and chose the premium one with a higher wool content. Since we were doing it, I wanted to get something good for him.

Choosing a premium fabric color

We picked the color we wanted from the premium fabrics. If they had a suit sample in that fabric, we could try it on and see whether it suited him.

Upper- and lower-body measurements and body-shape assessment

Once the fabric selection was complete, we started taking measurements.

Taking upper-body measurements for a custom suit
Custom-suit measurement process
Upper-body measurement consultation

They carefully measured his upper body, including the neck, shoulders, sleeves, arm circumference, wrists, chest width, back width, upper chest, and midsection.

Lower-body measurement process

They also measured the lower body: waist, hips, thighs, length, hem width, calves, and more.

Taking lower-body measurements for a custom suit

After measuring both the upper and lower body, they carefully checked his body shape as well. My father has pronounced bowed legs and forward-head posture.

Choosing shirt fabric for the wedding-parent package

The wedding-parent package I chose included a suit, custom shirt, and tie, so we could also choose the shirt fabric and color.

Choosing custom-shirt details

We could choose the shirt fit, front chest pocket, collar shape, cuff shape, and every other detail for it to be made.

Choosing shirt collar and cuff shapes

There were four collar shapes and five cuff shapes to choose from however we liked.

Fitting and alterations 2 weeks later

About 2 weeks after the measurements, Tag Suit contacted us to come in for fitting and alterations.

Tag Suit says it uses measurement data and AI for precise analysis and to innovate its distribution process, allowing it to provide custom suits in a short period at reasonable prices. AI really is the best, I guess.

Wearing the custom suit after fitting

My dad has quite pronounced bowed legs and forward-head posture. The suit made his legs look longer and covered his protruding belly and short legs so well. I think we did a really good job getting his custom suit at Tag Suit.

It came out really well from the side too, right?

Wedding-parent tie colors and patterns
Wedding-parent tie options

For wedding-parent ties, the groom's side can go with a blue base and the bride's side with a red base, in the pattern they want.

Wearing the custom suit before alterations

My father-in-law has been working hard to diet for the wedding, but he lost so much weight over 2 weeks that we measured him again and requested alterations. Still, Tag Suit offers unlimited alterations and lifetime after-sales service, so there is nothing to worry about.

After finishing the wedding-parent custom suits

You can get a custom suit that fits you perfectly in just 2 weeks, and the price is reasonable too, so there was no reason to buy ready-to-wear. How about having a suit made at Tag Suit, a Gangnam formalwear shop, too?
