I went to Hana Shabu Shabu, a well-known spot for shabu-shabu in Junggye-dong. A few days ago I was on my way to a department store in Nowon and wanted something good to eat, so I stopped by. The vibe was cozy yet upscale, the ingredients were fresh, and the food was delicious. I went for lunch with my husband, and honestly it would be a great spot for a group gathering or a date too.

Shabu-shabu is one of my favorite foods and I've tried a lot of places that claim to be good, but this one ranks in my top three! It was the best I've had in Nowon. It's been a while since I found a place I could confidently recommend. If you like shabu-shabu, I recommend this one — a place where you can enjoy great food in a great atmosphere.

Where do you park at Hana Shabu Shabu?
Hana Shabu Shabu is on the first floor of the Brownstone commercial building, and you can park for free for 2 hours in the Brownstone underground parking lot. Just register your parking at the restaurant after your meal. There were plenty of spots, so parking was easy.

Inside Hana Shabu Shabu: interior and seating
After parking and walking into the restaurant, I could feel it was upscale yet cozy at the same time. There are regular table seats as well as bar seating where you sit side by side to eat.

Once we were seated, they brought out basic tableware and a salad first.

The salad was plated so prettily that it put me in a good mood even before the meal started.

I also liked that the water wasn't just bottled water, and the container it came in wasn't plastic either. You could tell the owner put a lot of thought into every little detail.

Hana Shabu Shabu menu and prices: Basic A at 23,000 won
The basic set is ₩23,000 and comes with meat, vegetables, and udon noodles. There are broadly two menu types: shabu-shabu and seiro-mushi (steamed dish). We ordered shabu-shabu. It comes in six variations depending on the course and the type of meat, and we ordered Basic A, which comes with both brisket and sirloin.

The vegetables came out first, and they were so hearty. I love mushrooms, and there was a nice variety of them in there. You could tell how fresh everything was, which built up my anticipation for the taste.

Even the broth pot is different
What came out wasn't a regular pot but a cauldron. You could feel the heft of it, and the broth inside matched — it had a deep, rich flavor. The heat was strong too, so the broth came to a boil quickly.
The meat hadn't come out yet, and I was wondering why, when I glanced at the kitchen and saw the chef slicing it. They slice the meat the moment you order.

Sirloin and brisket came out together, but you can also order sirloin alone if you prefer.
Once the broth boiled, we cooked the meat and vegetables in it as we ate. The broth had that deep flavor, and with such fresh vegetables, the shabu-shabu was truly delicious.

The portion looked modest at first, but it turned out not to be — it was generous enough that we felt full well into the evening.

The garlic scapes tasted better than the beef
I got to enjoy a variety of vegetables and meat, healthy and delicious. The mushrooms were great, and the zucchini had such wonderful aroma and flavor. And surprisingly, the garlic scapes were delicious! I just tried them because they were there, and they had a soft, sweet taste. If I could, I would have loved to order extra garlic scapes. (Honestly, the garlic scapes were tastier to me than the meat.)

Naver receipt review event: free tadaki at Hana Shabu Shabu
Leave a review with your Naver receipt and get tadaki service!! The food was so good I had to leave a review~~ They made the tadaki right in front of us.

We wrapped it up with udon noodles~~ A really satisfying lunch at this well-known shabu-shabu spot in Junggye-dong. Great atmosphere, kind service, and delicious food all in one place.
