Kid-friendly Nowon Korean BBQ with self-serve bar: Junggye Gogi Party

In short

Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Junggye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul that serves beef and pork at the same table. Visiting with a 29-month-old and family of three, the writer ordered the premium beef set 500g for 56,000 won, Iberico black pork jowl 180g for 23,000 won and Iberico pork collar 180g for 19,000 won, then used the self-serve bar and the free dessert of sikhye, yogurt, coffee and ppeongtwigi. Little meat smell clings to your clothes and 7 cars can park in front, so Junggye Gogi Party works well for a family meal out with a small child.

A while back I visited Junggye Gogi Party with my family, located in Junggye-dong, Nowon, Seoul. In our household, meat is always considered the best side dish — or honestly, the best meal on its own.

This time I was looking for a place where we could eat both beef and pork, and that's how we ended up at this Nowon favorite, Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch.

Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch hours and parking

  • Name: Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch
  • Hours: Daily 11:30–22:00
  • Last entry: 21:00
  • Last order: 21:30
  • Parking: 7 spots in front of the store / if full, park on the street and staff will guide you

There's parking for 7 cars right in front of the store. And if there's no space, you can park on the street and get guidance from staff, so no need to stress about parking! We visited before mealtime and had no trouble finding a spot^^

Is Junggye Gogi Party comfortable with a 29-month-old?

Walking in, the place felt clean and comfortable overall, making it a good spot for a family meal. At a lot of BBQ places, the moment you walk in that distinctive meat smell soaks straight into your clothes, but at this Nowon favorite, Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch, we barely noticed that unpleasant smell — which was especially nice.

When eating with a kid, I tend to prefer a spot with some breathing room rather than a cramped, chaotic BBQ joint, and Junggye Gogi Party had an easygoing atmosphere that felt comfortable for the whole family. If you're heading out to grill meat with a little one like we did, this really matters.

The smell clinging to your clothes after eating meat is honestly kind of stressful, so having less of that meant we could go on with the rest of our day afterward without worry. Overall it felt clean and relaxed enough to work not just for meals with friends but for family outings too~

One of the dishes I was most looking forward to — the premium beef set, 500g for 56,000 won.

It comes with sirloin, chuck flap, and king short rib.

The moment the meat arrived, what caught my eye first was the freshness. The color and grain looked clean, so it looked fresh even just to look at! Meat is one of those things where the freshness really hits you in person more than in photos, and that was exactly the case this day.

We grilled it on the pan until nicely browned, and yep — delicious! The juices held up well and the meat itself had great flavor, so it was tasty even without dipping it in anything special. Though of course, dipping made it even better!!

If meat is too tough, I stop reaching for it after a few bites, but the texture of what we had this day was satisfying. The more you chewed, the more the flavor came through — the kind of meat you keep picking up piece after piece.

The combo of myeongi namul (wild garlic leaf) and shiitake-wasabi sauce is the best...

There was zero meaty smell, so we got to eat the fresh meat cleanly and enjoyably.

On top of beef, we also ordered Iberico pork collar and jowl. Ordering beef and pork together was nice because you don't get sick of eating just one kind of meat the whole time.

Fermented shrimp sauce served with the pork

With the pork order, they gave us fermented shrimp sauce too, for dipping — yum yum yum. The collar had that distinctive light but savory flavor, and grilling it just right kept the juices in, so it was delicious. I personally think it tastes better keeping the juices in rather than cooking it too well-done.

Pork jowl grilled crispy

And of course, my favorite — the pork jowl. That distinctive chewy yet savory texture came through perfectly. Grilled to a golden brown, every bite brought up more savory flavor, so I kept reaching for it.

Personally, if pork jowl is too fatty, I get tired of it after a few bites, but maybe because the meat itself was so fresh this day, I ate it happily without feeling weighed down. And the more it cooked, the crispier it got, which I loved even more^3^ In the end, between the beef, pork collar, and jowl, we really finished the meal stuffed full.

Free dessert: sikhye, yogurt, coffee and ppeongtwigi

And here's the part I personally loved! After finishing the meal, they had sikhye (sweet rice punch), yogurt, coffee, and even ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snack) ready for dessert.

After eating meat, you crave something sweet and cool, and a glass of sikhye hit the spot perfectly. Also, when things started feeling a bit greasy mid-meal, a sip of sikhye reset my palate and I'd dive back in 😋

With a kid along, yogurt is a welcome dessert too, and being able to finish with coffee after the meal made the whole ending feel thoughtful. We went out for meat and came home having thoroughly enjoyed dessert too.

Is Junggye Gogi Party worth it for a family dinner?

I'd recommend this Junggye-dong, Nowon favorite, Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch, as a BBQ restaurant that's good to visit with kids. The meat looked visibly fresh and actually tasted great too, so overall I was quite pleased with this place 👍

I looked it up and found out that to keep the best taste, they age freshly prepared meat for 72 hours every day before serving~ A solid option for a date near Nowon Station or Junggye-dong, but I'd especially recommend Junggye Gogi Party as a family dining spot. Visit whenever you're craving meat 👍
