Mapo Chinese restaurant with ₩6,000 jjajangmyeon: Sujeoga
In short
Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Mapo, Seoul. We shared garlic tangsuyuk, chadol jjamppong, and ₩6,000 old-style jjajangmyeon, then turned the free rice into jjamppongbap. Verdict: come for the rich broth and reliably good-value jjajangmyeon.

Sujeoga, a Chinese restaurant near Daehung Station
There are lots of hidden gems around Daehung Station in Mapo-gu, but Sujeoga is the first place that comes to mind when I crave Chinese food. Highly recommended as a great Chinese restaurant in Gongdeok!
Hours: 10:30–21:00 (closed every Sunday) It is an easy walk from Daehung Station, and the restaurant has an overall clean, neat atmosphere.

Sujeoga's menu and basic service
The menu is broadly divided into meals and dishes, and apparently any meal can be switched to rice. There was Sujeoga jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), white jjamppong, white-meat jjamppong, and old-style jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce). For dishes, there was garlic pork loin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork). You can also order chili fried dumplings, for reference.

They bring out drinks along with the basic side dishes.

Chorokmaesil plum drink and chilled pear drink! They were nice after the meal. I'm firmly on team Chorokmaesil—what drink do you all like? Five stars for this thoughtful touch! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ haha
What we ordered

Small garlic tangsuyuk
First up was the small garlic tangsuyuk. It came drizzled with sauce loaded with garlic flakes and garlic.

The tangsuyuk was seriously nutty and delicious. It wasn't the glutinous-rice style you see everywhere these days, just classic tangsuyuk, but it was the kind of flavor that stayed on my mind. It was super crisp, while the sauce was wonderfully thick and sticky. I really recommend it.

True to its garlic tangsuyuk name, it had a huge amount of garlic in it...!! My friend said eating it would turn you into a real person, lol. I like 60 Gye Chicken's chili chicken, and would it make sense if I said it has that sort of flavor? It's somewhat in that family.

What does the chadol jjamppong taste like?
Next was the chadol jjamppong, Sujeoga's signature dish that you absolutely should not miss if you come here. The sight of the bowl piled high with chadolbagi (thin-sliced beef brisket) grabs your attention right away. There really was a lot of brisket.

The smoky flavor of the meat runs deeply through the jjamppong broth, making it rich and full-bodied. Even with all that brisket, it was more nutty than greasy, with an appealing spicy broth.

The noodles were nice and plump too! Wrapping them with the brisket was delicious. Just note that this is a slightly thick(?) jjamppong broth. I thought it might be a bit divisive, but the person I went with said it was so good.

₩6,000 old-style jjajangmyeon
Old-style jjajangmyeon for ₩6,000. Even among the more showy dishes, this classic jjajangmyeon does its job perfectly. The sweet, nutty chunjang black bean sauce is generously filled with finely chopped meat and vegetables, making it hard to stop eating.

Honestly, when jjajangmyeon is ₩10,000 these days... a jjajangmyeon this solid for just ₩6,000! It was good enough to make me want to come back specifically for jjajangmyeon. My vote goes to the jjajangmyeon.

Free rice and things to know
Rice is set up in a rice cooker so you can help yourself anytime. Order one jjamppong, scoop out some rice, and it becomes jjamppongbap... And there is no extra charge for a bowl of rice!! Amazing ☺️

Extra side dishes are self-service. The jjajangmyeon was so good that I ate it happily without even touching the danmuji pickled radish. There was no need for more side dishes.

The restaurant is not large, but it does have a restroom inside.

There is a break time, so keep that in mind~

It was full when I visited, and it looked like they usually have a waiting list too. It seems to be a hidden neighborhood favorite.

Here is a look inside the restaurant. There are academies nearby, so it seems students from them come in, and lots of nearby office workers visit too. There is a coin laundry nearby, so I stopped by while doing laundry—but I want to eat here again next time.
A great combination with chadol jjamppong
If you love a rich, deep broth, the chadol jjamppong is a must. Pair it with the pungent, sweet garlic tangsuyuk and the balance is perfect. If you want that sweet-salty and spicy harmony, I strongly recommend ordering the old-style jjajangmyeon too and sharing everything.
