Hapjeong brunch café for chicken breast steak: Seowon Angil

In short

Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a two-floor brunch café in Mapo, Seoul, serving coffee and light meals. After a health checkup, I ordered the new chicken breast steak and iced blueberry hibiscus tea for a quiet weekday lunch break. A lovely pick for brunch or coffee with your pet.

After finishing my health checkup, I didn't quite want to head straight home, so I looked for a café near Hapjeong where I could take a little break and found Seowon Angil Hapjeong (서원안길 합정). I was looking for somewhere to have a light meal as well as tea, and since it was a café with brunch on the menu, I decided to visit.

Actually, Seowon Angil was already a café I knew. I had visited the Seowon Angil in Geomdan a few times, and I personally liked it because the atmosphere was pretty and the space was so well put together. It turns out there is one in Hapjeong too. I was happy to see a familiar name and curious about this new branch..

A large café for coffee and brunch

Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a large café where you can enjoy coffee and brunch together. It doesn't only sell drinks; there are meal options too, so it felt like a good place to sort out a simple meal when you're a little hungry.

I heard it is a pet-friendly café. It seems like a useful place to keep in mind for anyone looking for a café to visit while out with their pet.

The café is divided between the first and second floors, and I took a seat upstairs that day. With the space split between floors, I could choose a seat with the atmosphere I wanted, and I spent some time resting while I ate.

A new brunch menu chosen after my health checkup

Whenever I visit a new café, I tend to look through the menu carefully first. Especially when there is something new, I tend to order it before dishes I have had many times. I'm curious because it is something the café has newly introduced, and it could be a dish I don't usually come across, so it naturally catches my attention.

I ordered the new chicken breast steak and iced blueberry hibiscus tea. I chose the chicken breast steak because it seemed like a good meal to order at a café. Since I was visiting after my health checkup, I was looking for something I could eat without feeling too weighed down rather than a heavy dish, and it was a new menu item, so I ordered it out of curiosity.

Water and sauces were set out on each floor, which was convenient :)

For relaxing alone or brunch with a group

Having visited the Geomdan branch a few times, I was curious about the Hapjeong branch too. Even cafés from the same brand seem to have slightly different atmospheres depending on where they are. The distinctive, pretty sense of space I felt at the Geomdan branch seemed to carry through here too.

The Hapjeong branch in particular is fairly spacious across two floors, making it a nice place to come and spend time at a café. I visited alone that day, but I saw guests enjoying time on their own as well as people having brunch, so it felt like a café for all sorts of occasions.

The space is really well done, so it is nice for coming with several people or on your own. Especially at weekday lunchtime, there weren't too many people, so it was nice to sit quietly for a while.

There were reserved seats as well.

The photos came out really well too. With all the different plants in the interior, it felt like I had come to a café nestled in nature.

There was Wi-Fi on both the first and second floors, so it was easy to use comfortably.

Checking the menu and my order by QR code

Each table had a QR code, so it was easy to check the menu. There was a wide range of brunch dishes too, so I think it would be nice to come for different purposes, even just to use the café :)

It was my first time trying blueberry hibiscus, and I liked it even more iced haha. The chicken breast steak that came with it also went really well with the mushroom sauce.

A place I want to return to for a date

This time I happened upon it after my health checkup, but next time I would like to come with my boyfriend haha. I usually enjoy going to pretty cafés, having a meal, and chatting, and since this place has brunch dishes, it seemed like a great fit for a date too.

I had already visited the Geomdan branch a few times because I personally liked it, so I was happy to discover the Hapjeong branch too. If you are looking for a café near Hapjeong where you can enjoy coffee and brunch together, Seowon Angil Hapjeong may be worth keeping in mind. It is a pet-friendly large café spread across two floors, so it was a good place for a day when you want to take care of both a meal and a café visit at once.
