Sajik-dong café for candied walnut financiers and peppermint tea: CORR

In short

CORR is a financier-focused dessert café on Yeogo-ro in Sajik-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan. At CORR, three financiers (fig, walnut jeonggwa (candied walnut) and salt & caramel) were paired with an iced peppermint tea in a private room, and the sweetness and freshness blended without getting in each other's way. CORR's private room is a particularly good fit for a small group that wants a quiet chat over dessert.

Today I want to share my review of CORR, a café I visited in Sajik-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan. I found it while looking for a good dessert spot in Sajik-dong, and since it had all sorts of financiers and even a room for groups, I wanted to write up a detailed review.

CORR is a café located in Sajik-dong, and the overall vibe felt calm and cozy. There's a room set up in particular, which made it a great structure for gathering with friends or acquaintances. Having an independent space where you can chat comfortably even with several people was a big plus, and since this kind of room seating is pretty rare for a café, it felt extra special.

Iced peppermint tea, a good pairing with financiers

The first thing I ordered at CORR was iced peppermint tea. It was a tea in a glass packed with ice, with the peppermint scent spreading softly, and the refreshing aroma left my mouth feeling clean. It wasn't sweet and had a clean taste, so it went well with dessert without feeling heavy, and the minty coolness suited the hot weather especially well. Paired with a sweet dessert like the financiers, it blended together in a way that didn't interfere with either flavor.

CORR's set of 3 financiers

The financiers I ordered that day at CORR were the fig financier, the walnut jeonggwa (candied walnut) financier, and the salt & caramel financier — three kinds. Each had its own charm, so it was fun to try them one by one.

Fig financier 🍇

The first one I tried was the fig financier. The look alone caught my eye, with figs studded into the buttery financier batter. One bite gave the crisp-outside, moist-inside texture that's typical of financiers, and the subtle sweetness of the fig plus the pop of the seeds added a special flavor. It wasn't too sweet, and the fruit's natural tartness came through, giving it a clean finish.

Walnut jeonggwa financier 🌰

Next up, the walnut jeonggwa financier was the most impressively nutty menu item. Inside the buttery financier were bits of sweetly candied walnut jeonggwa, so every bite brought together nutty and sweet flavors at once.

The crunchy texture of the walnut blended with the chewy sweetness of the jeonggwa, making it a dessert with deep flavor even without coffee or tea. Of the three, it was the most classic and well-rounded in taste.

Salt & caramel financier 🍯

CORR's salt & caramel financier

Last was the salt & caramel financier, a textbook sweet-and-salty menu item. The rich sweetness of the caramel and a touch of salt kept the flavor balanced, making it addictive — I kept reaching for more. The surface was caramelized with a slight crunch, while the inside was soft and moist, giving a nice contrast in texture. Eating it with the peppermint tea kept the sweetness from feeling excessive, making it, among the three financiers, especially satisfying.

Relaxed seating in CORR's room

Compared to the typical open seating of a café, enjoying it in the room felt much more private and relaxed, and it was a great setup to visit for a gathering or small tea time.
