Second-round seafood at Gangnam Garosugil: Parang Haenyeojip

In short

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store is a budget-friendly sashimi restaurant on Garosugil, a 5-minute walk from Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Visited as a second-round spot after dinner, the writer tried muniao squid sashimi (무늬오징어회) and the ₩12,000 seafood kalguksu (해물칼국수), where the squid legs came steamed and the noodle broth turned even richer with added fish cake skewers. A solid, wallet-friendly pick for enjoying seasonal seafood after a first meal.

A sashimi restaurant on Garosugil in Sinsa, great for dates or gatherings — the vibe was excellent and every dish was delicious.

I'd been craving seafood so badly that after a first meal, I went for a light second round at Parang Haenyeojip, a sashimi restaurant in Sinsa! It's the kind of place on Garosugil in Sinsa where you can eat sashimi and seafood at great prices!

Hours and holidays

Sun–Thu 16:00–01:30, Fri–Sat 16:00–02:00. Seems to be closed on Chuseok and other major holidays. I'd recommend calling ahead or checking Naver for exact closed days before you go, haha.

Getting there from Sinsa Station, parking and corkage

It's just a 5-minute walk from Sinsa Station, so access is really good. I went after booking through Naver Reservations. Parking is ₩4,000 for 2 hours, then ₩1,000 per 10 minutes after that. Corkage is ₩20,000 per bottle for wine or sake, and ₩40,000 per bottle for whiskey.

A vibe that works for group gatherings and dates alike

With that big, gorgeous screen, it feels like you've stepped right onto the sea! There's no separate private room, but they can set up group seating, so it's more than doable for gatherings or work dinners! The atmosphere is so nice it'd be lovely for a date or a blind date too. Bring your girlfriend if she loves seafood. There's also a separate spot for hanging coats and storing bags, which was really convenient in winter or when you've got a lot of stuff.

Menu lineup and the review event

They're running an event where writing a receipt review gets you a free bottle of alcohol — definitely take part, haha. Being a sashimi restaurant, of course they have plenty of delicious sashimi, plus seafood, squid, and octopus bossam (boiled and sliced octopus), among other dishes. Even people who aren't into seafood or raw fish would find enough on the menu to enjoy together.

Menu board showing the wide variety of soups

Best of all, they had a huge variety of soups. Plenty of dishes that work well whether it's your first or second round. Basic side dish of seaweed! One bowl of miyeokguk (seaweed soup) per person, a healthy basic side dish, and yum, with chojang (vinegar-chili sauce).

Trying muniao squid sashimi for the first time

I ordered the muniao squid sashimi (무늬오징어회). This was my first time trying muniao squid, so I was full of anticipation. The legs come boiled as suyuk (boiled sliced meat). Flying fish roe, makjang (fermented soybean paste), sesame oil sauce, perilla leaves, dried seaweed — plenty of ways to enjoy this muniao squid.

Muniao squid is soft and tender yet chewy, richer and denser in texture than regular squid, with a fuller, more delicious flavor! Since it was my first time, I was surprised by how good it was! So satisfying, and I was relieved it lived up to expectations.

Dipping it in different sauces was fun, and each one tasted different so I never got tired of it. The plating was also really pretty. The legs were tender and soft too, going down easily. I think even a baby could eat it.

Wrapping it in dried seaweed — yum! It pairs so well with a drink that I just kept eating! Having had a solid first meal already, this was perfect as a light dish for round two. You can also order the seafood items individually, so it's good for sampling a variety, and overall the value for money was excellent! I think this might be the best value sashimi restaurant on Garosugil.

Seafood kalguksu for ₩12,000 — the broth is the real deal

I gradually wanted some broth, so I ordered the seafood kalguksu (해물칼국수, knife-cut noodle soup). For ₩12,000, it's loaded with clams and mussels too. And above all, the broth is seriously refreshing. Clean yet full of umami — the best mussel kalguksu I've had at any sashimi restaurant so far.

The noodles inside were soft and tender too, sliding down easily — so good, ㅠㅠ. I asked for kimchi and eating it together sobered me up while also feeling like a proper meal. I was already full, but I just kept eating.

Adding fish cake skewers is a must

The owner told me it's even better with fish cake skewers added, so I ordered right away, haha. Sure enough, the fish cake soaked up that refreshing broth and it was so good... It was refreshing and tasty enough that I felt like I could use this kalguksu as hangover soup the next day.

Both the side dishes and the seafood were so fresh and delicious at Parang Haenyeojip, this sashimi restaurant on Garosugil in Sinsa — I was really satisfied. Definitely coming back here for seasonal seafood. Highly recommend!!
