Fresh sashimi and shrimp at Negi Silbi, a Sinsa-dong seafood pocha in

In short

Negi Silbi Sinsa is a seafood pocha (Korean-style seafood pub) in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, run by the Japanese dining brand Negi. The writer ordered the Jinju-style chapdomi makhoe (medium, sliced red seabream sashimi) and raw shrimp sashimi with fried shrimp heads, and loved wrapping the sashimi in perilla leaf with kelp, chili, wasabi, and the house-made makjang dipping sauce. With a modern interior and an outdoor terrace, it's a solid pick for dates or gatherings near Sinsa Station.

The night breeze is starting to feel a little cooler these days~ perfect season for good bar snacks and a glass of soju, right?

A while back my husband and I had a date/meetup near Sinsa-dong, and as a certified seafood addict, I was genuinely blown away by a place near Sinsa Station that I have to share right away!!! It's the currently-hot 'Negi Silbi'!

Why a silbijip looks this modern

Entrance of Negi Silbi Sinsa
Negi Silbi entrance

When you hear 'silbijip' (a casual, no-frills seafood pub) you probably picture a cozy old-school spot, but true to the 'Negi' brand, the interior was modern and polished from the entrance onward — I was genuinely surprised.✨ It's classy and clean enough for dates, gatherings, or even hosting guests.

For those who don't know, this is actually a seafood pocha line run by the well-known Japanese dining brand 'NEGI.' Since it's a brand built by Japanese cuisine chefs, I was already excited before even walking in!💛

They even have a terrace

The first thing I noticed right at the entrance was the outdoor terrace seating. Drinking on a terrace in this cool weather... the vibe is honestly insane.

(💡Tip: if you want a terrace seat, it's best to ask ahead or arrive early, haha.)

We ended up sitting inside, in the spacious, clean hall. The place felt open with no cramped feeling, and the neat interior made it perfect for a group meetup or date.

Seasonal new menu and fresh-from-source tanks

At the entrance, they post that day's new menu items, and since they only work with seasonal seafood shipped straight from Jeju, Tongyeong, and Mokpo, the menu seems to change nicely with the seasons! I love that kind of thing so much...💛

There was also a big tank out front — and it was spotless, so you know the freshness had to be next level!

What we ordered

Looking at the menu, there were so many delicious-looking seasonal seafood dishes from this Sinsa-dong spot that it was genuinely hard to choose haha. But! The raw shrimp sashimi I'd been craving for days flashed through my mind, and after much deliberation we confidently ordered the Jinju-style chapdomi makhoe (medium, sliced red seabream sashimi) and raw shrimp sashimi + fried shrimp heads!

After ordering, they brought out a starter of sliced raw radish topped with salty Japanese shio kombu (seasoned kelp)!! It was surprisingly good on its own haha, a perfect palate cleanser before the mains showed up👍

Jinju-style chapdomi makhoe — the house makjang sauce is the key

And then finally... the stunning Jinju-style chapdomi makhoe arrives!! ✨

Oh my god..... 🫢 One bite in and I was legitimately shocked at how good it was haha. The sashimi itself was insanely, INSANELY fresh with a chewiness that was out of this world.

They serve a house-made makjang sauce that Negi Silbi makes themselves, and it's so good I actually want the recipe — savory to the second, third degree...

The best way to eat the chapdomi makhoe

Here's Ppoyo's tip for ⭐the tastiest way to eat chapdomi makhoe⭐

Perilla leaf wrap with sashimi and makjang sauce, the recommended combo
Highly recommend this combo!!

👉 Wrap it in perilla leaf + kelp + sliced sashimi + house makjang sauce + chili + a touch of wasabi and eat it like that... it's a seriously addictive combination.

I recommended my husband try it wrapped this way too, and he immediately nodded in agreement! Haha

After that, we also happily wrapped bites in savory dried seaweed.

You have to try the raw shrimp sashimi

And then‼️ finally my beloved raw shrimp sashimi arrived.

Glossy, plump raw shrimp sashimi

It was glistening, and the shrimp were way plumper and bigger than I expected — genuinely moving. 🫶🫶

A single piece of raw shrimp sashimi picked up with chopsticks

The second it hit my mouth, the bouncy texture just burst and the sweetness spread everywhere — it was flat-out incredible haha. Even after leaving, I kept thinking about that raw shrimp sashimi...🩵

The shrimp heads are fried separately

As we kept eating, they thoughtfully served the fried shrimp heads separately. Wow... they must use really clean oil, because the batter was so pale and clean-looking! No fishy smell at all, just savory and super crispy!

So crispy,,

You know how sometimes when you're drinking you suddenly crave something greasy and carb-y...? This fried shrimp head hits that spot exactly haha. My husband and I kept gasping over it the whole time,,,🫢🫢

What about the price? Honest thoughts

At first you might think, hmm, is this a bit pricey? But the moment you taste it, you can immediately tell they're only using fresh, high-quality ingredients you can't find just anywhere! Not a single won felt wasted on the quality,,👏👏 (I want to come back every day..!!!!!!)

It didn't feel like your typical Sinsa-dong seafood pocha — it felt like being properly treated to legendary aged sashimi and seafood dishes in Sinsa-dong! In the end, the delicious food made me drink way more than I meant to that day... haha

My husband was so satisfied he said he'd bring his friends back soon! With the atmosphere, ingredient quality, and taste all covered, seafood lovers will absolutely be satisfied. If you're looking for a Sinsa Station restaurant and bar with quality snacks to drink to, I recommend 'Negi Silbi'!💛

Final thoughts & would I return?

  • Taste & menu: chewy chapdomi makhoe + house makjang sauce combo is insane🐟 you must try the raw shrimp sashimi 🍤
  • Atmosphere & view: spacious, modern feel — great for dates or gatherings!
  • Service & convenience: the staff were incredibly friendly💛
  • Would I return: 500%!💘 A place I want to keep coming back to just to see what's new each season,, 😋

If you want to try seafood shipped straight from source, rare to find in Seoul! If you're looking for a Garosu-gil or Sinsa-dong bar where the snacks are so good the soju just keeps flowing! If you want a proper Sinsa-dong seafood pocha with real, well-made dishes!! I highly recommend Negi Silbi Sinsa😋😋
