Gangnam tteokbokki restaurant with crispy fritters: Mil Tteok Factory
In short
Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch is a café-style instant tteokbokki restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul. I had the large Red sweet-and-spicy instant tteokbokki, handmade crispy fritters, and flying-fish-roe fried rice; the thin wheat rice cakes and nicely sweet, spicy broth were the standouts. Verdict: a place I’d happily revisit when I’m craving instant tteokbokki.

Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch (밀떡팩토리 본점), tucked into an alley off Garosu-gil near Sinsa Station, is an instant tteokbokki specialist that has steadily become a word-of-mouth favorite among tteokbokki lovers for its soft, chewy wheat rice cakes and seriously addictive sauce! There aren’t many instant tteokbokki places around these days, so I went as soon as a friend recommended it 🤩👍

Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch: location and visitor information
Location: B1, 64 Gangnam-daero 152-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Hours: Daily 11:30–21:20 (last order 20:50) Highlights: A clean, casual atmosphere; takeout and delivery available; popular for office-worker lunches and dates.

A café-style snack restaurant that doesn’t feel cramped underground
Mil Tteok Factory, a Garosu-gil favorite, is below ground but never feels stuffy; it has the modern feel of a café-style bunsik (Korean snack-food) restaurant. Rather than the bustle of a typical instant tteokbokki spot, the tidy, clean table settings stand out, making it a great choice for a Garosu-gil date or a get-together with friends 💛

Pick up danmuji (pickled yellow radish), extra bowls, wet wipes, aprons, and more at the self-service bar. Water is self-serve, while drinks can be ordered at the tap 💛

Instant tteokbokki menu and ordering
The most exciting part: choosing the menu! From the original to Toowoomba, jjajang, and brisket versions, there were several kinds of instant tteokbokki, plus lots of toppings to add 🤤

We ordered the large Red sweet-and-spicy instant tteokbokki and handmade crispy fritters! And of course, we also added fried rice—the essential follow-up after tteokbokki, haha.
How spicy and generous is the Red sweet-and-spicy instant tteokbokki?
Red sweet-and-spicy instant tteokbokki
Mil Tteok Factory’s instant tteokbokki arrived already incredibly generous, even without extra toppings such as jjolmyeon noodles, ramen, or quail eggs!!

This is the most basic and signature menu item, with a clean sweet-and-spicy broth that isn’t heavy or murky :) I think I actually gasped when it arrived, haha. So many tteokbokki places are overly sweet these days, but Mil Tteok Factory got the sweetness and heat just right—it was delicious!

The long, thin wheat rice cakes have a wonderful chewy texture, with the sauce soaking all the way through rather than sitting on the surface. The standard set comes packed with ramen, jjolmyeon noodles, fish cakes, vegetables, and more, and the broth grows richer as it cooks ❤️❤️
You can adjust the spice level, so it works for everyone from spice beginners to heat lovers. The original and best-selling Red sweet-and-spicy tteokbokki is about as spicy as Jin Ramen, so I thought kids would eat it well too when I come back with them later, haha.

Maybe because it had been so long since I’d had instant tteokbokki, it tasted even better! The wheat rice cakes were chewy, the jjolmyeon noodles springy, and the ramen was cooked perfectly!!

Handmade crispy fritters, including enoki mushrooms
Handmade crispy fritters
This assorted platter of handmade fritters is fried to order, so there’s no stale-oil smell and every crisp layer of batter stays intact.

The batter is thin rather than thick and has a light, crackly crunch, so you can fully taste the texture and flavor of the ingredients inside. It features an unusual variety of fritters you don’t often find elsewhere, including sundae (Korean blood sausage), sausage, enoki mushrooms, crown daisy, and eggplant!

The enoki mushroom fritters were especially a first for me, and such a treat 🤤 I recommend lightly dipping them in soy sauce to enjoy their natural crispness first, then soaking them well in the reduced sweet-and-spicy tteokbokki broth.
Flying-fish-roe fried rice to finish with the leftover sauce
Flying-fish-roe fried rice
This is the essential final course: fried rice made with the leftover sauce after you finish the tteokbokki. No matter how full you are, lol.

Popping flying fish roe, seaweed flakes, and fragrant sesame oil come together with the lightly reduced tteokbokki broth. You could also add cheese if you like.

A clean space that also works well for dates
The waiting area and restroom were both very clean, so I’d recommend it as a Sinsa Station date spot too 💛

They say you can receive free seasoned fried dumplings or a drink by joining the Naver receipt review or Google review event 🤩
