Korean restaurant in Yeonje, Busan: Sinseon Myeonga’s sujebi

In short

Sinseon Myeonga is a Korean restaurant about six minutes on foot from Yeonsan Station Exit 14 in Yeonje, Busan. I had bossam, bulgogi bibimbap, and sujebi; the chewy dough and clean-tasting broth of the sujebi stood out most. The dedicated parking lot was convenient, though I needed to call ahead for the gate to be opened.

After running errands in Yeonsan-dong, I wanted a warm broth and rice, so I stopped by Sinseon Myeonga (신선면가). I had bossam (boiled pork wraps), bulgogi bibimbap, and sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), and the sujebi’s chewy dough and refreshing broth stayed with me most.

It is said to be a restaurant where the owner, who was born and raised in Yeonsan-dong, makes the dough fresh every morning.

There is a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant, so I parked there before going in. The kitchen was fully visible inside, and overall the restaurant felt clean.

How do you get there from Yeonsan Station, and where can you park?

Directions to Sinseon Myeonga from Yeonsan Station

The address is 103, 1F, 26 Jungang-daero 1150beon-gil, Yeonje-gu, Busan. It is about a six-minute walk from Yeonsan Station Exit 14, around 100 m from the Senior Welfare Center.

The dedicated parking lot is behind the restaurant. A staff member needs to open the entrance gate, so it is convenient to call the restaurant about a minute before arriving and ask them to raise the barrier.

What are the dining room and seating like?

The restaurant has an open kitchen where you can clearly see inside. It looked clean and well maintained to me, so I was able to eat comfortably.

There was plenty of seating, including group tables. Customers kept arriving while I ate, and delivery drivers came and went as well.

After I ordered, they served sundae (Korean blood sausage) on the house. It was a small taste before the main dishes, and I liked its chewy texture.

Soon after, the bossam, bulgogi bibimbap, and sujebi were neatly set on the table.

How were the bossam and bulgogi bibimbap?

Although the bossam was the small portion for two, it felt generous. The pork was tender and easy to eat.

The owner is said to make the sauce for the bulgogi bibimbap as well. The seasoning was not overpowering, and the ingredients came together well for a satisfying meal.

Why was the sujebi the most memorable dish?

The sujebi was the dish I enjoyed most. The dough was chewy, with a pleasant bite.

The broth also felt deep and refreshing, and I spooned it up without leaving any until I could see the bottom of the earthenware bowl. Throughout the meal, the ingredients seemed fresh.

Is there dessert after the meal?

As I was leaving after the meal, I saw that sikhye (sweet rice drink) and yakgwa (honey cookie) had been prepared for diners to have one each. I finished my meal with dessert.

The chewy complimentary sundae and the sujebi broth were especially good in this meal. With parking available and plenty of seating, I had a comfortable meal.
