I had the flame-grilled octopus and bossam set at Sinseon Myeonga in Yeonsan-dong. I chose dubu kimchi (tofu with seasoned kimchi) as the set option, and liked alternating between the spicy octopus and the tender, mild bossam. The spread also felt generous.

What can you eat at Sinseon Myeonga?
Sinseon Myeonga is a kalguksu restaurant that uses fresh noodles made in-house. According to the restaurant, it makes kalguksu with dough prepared and noodles extruded daily. Alongside kalguksu, it also sells bibimbap, bossam, and octopus dishes.

The noodle choices included anchovy kalguksu, hand-torn dough soup, spicy mixed kalguksu, cold kalguksu, and perilla-oil kalguksu. There were also bulgogi bibimbap, tuna bibimbap, octopus bibimbap, and old-style king pork cutlet, so I liked having plenty of options when deciding what to order.

Why did I choose the flame-grilled octopus and bossam set?
I ordered the set that lets you have flame-grilled octopus and bossam together. From the included options, I chose dubu kimchi. As the dishes arrived one by one, the table quickly filled up, and I thought it would work well for sharing with several people.

How did the flame-grilled octopus and bossam taste?
The flame-grilled octopus came on a wide plate with a generous amount of octopus and vegetables, topped with sliced scallions and sesame seeds. The octopus was chewy, and the sauce was rich and fairly spicy. It went well with rice, too.

The bossam came neatly arranged in thin slices. I made wraps with lettuce, bossam, garlic, and chili pepper. The mild meat paired well with spicy kimchi and wrap vegetables, and alternating it with the flame-grilled octopus gave me two distinct flavors.

How was the dubu kimchi in the set?
The dubu kimchi had thick slices of tofu arranged around the edge of the plate, with seasoned kimchi in the middle. The warm, mild tofu went well with the spicy kimchi. It was also good alongside the bossam or flame-grilled octopus.

Are group meals, parking, and takeout available?
The restaurant has an open-kitchen layout, so the kitchen area was relatively visible. Its in-store notice said that bibimbap and sauces are made in-house as well. Group seating and takeout are available.

The restaurant also says it has a dedicated parking lot. If you are visiting by car, ask the restaurant in advance about parking arrangements. Since the set allowed us to share several dishes, I thought it would suit a meal with family or acquaintances.
There were also desserts you could pick up on the way out after the meal.
