In short
Haw Gongtang Seongsu Main Branch (돼지공탕 하우 성수본점) is a pork gongtang and Pyongyang naengmyeon restaurant a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Seongsu Station in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The writer ordered Haw Naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodles), whose broth is said to be 100% pork, and a regular Haw Gongtang, which had no gamey smell and a generous amount of meat. If you like mild, clean broth and cold kimchi, Haw Gongtang is an easy pick for a solo lunch in Seongsu.

Today I'm introducing a really clean and delicious guk-bap (soup and rice) spot near Seongsu Station! It's a gukbap and pyongyang naengmyeon place haha.

Haw Gongtang Seongsu Main Branch: gongtang, not gomtang
Not gomtang, it's Haw's gongtang, that's correct haha.
How far is Haw Gongtang from Seongsu Station? Location and hours
The address is 36 Achasan-ro 7-gil, 1st floor, Unit 2, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It's 464m, about a 7-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 1. It's slightly off in the opposite direction from Seongsu's main strip, so it felt quiet and nice!! I'd never been to this side before, and I liked that there weren't many people haha.

It's open daily 11:30–20:30, with break time from 15:00 to 17:30. Last order is 14:30 for lunch and 20:00 for dinner. Whether they're closed on holidays is noted separately on Naver, so I'd recommend checking before you visit ☺️ No parking on-site, but there's a public parking lot just 1 minute away.
A Seongsu storefront with no signboard

Here's the exterior~~ There's no separate signboard, so I found my way in by the poster stuck to the front!! Really clean-looking exterior.
Inside Haw Gongtang: solo seats and table spacing

Wood-toned furniture with a clean white interior!! As the interior suggests, the gomtang and the food overall felt clean too. The tables are spaced well apart, and there are 4-person tables as well as solo dining seats! The tables are quite large so you can eat comfortably.

Not a huge number of seats, but everything's arranged neatly with just what's needed haha. Really modern feel! ㅎ.ㅎ It seemed like a great lunch spot for office workers.
Haw Gongtang menu and how to order
You order through the staff! The main menu items are Haw Gomtang, Gomtang (Special), and Haw Naengmyeon. Every single one sounds delicious ☺️☺️ Seaweed soup and naengmyeon are seasonal menus haha. Seaweed soup is the winter seasonal item (Oct–Feb), naengmyeon is the summer seasonal item (Mar–Sep). There are sides too, and they also sell alcohol!! Seems like a great spot for a clean drink alongside your meal haha.
How do Haw Naengmyeon and Haw Gongtang taste?

I ordered one Haw Naengmyeon and one Haw Gongtang (regular)!

Haw Naengmyeon (Pyongyang-style cold buckwheat noodles)
Let me start with Haw Naengmyeon. Haw Naengmyeon is pyongyang naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodle)~ Unlike other pyongyang naengmyeon, this one's made with 100% pork broth, that's the distinctive feature haha. Really clean and delicious. Paired with the white kimchi that comes with it, it was a perfect match!!

The amount of noodles was insane... I genuinely ate until I was stuffed. The noodles were chewy and went really well with the naengmyeon broth! Highly recommended for anyone who usually loves pyongyang naengmyeon.
Basic side dishes include white kimchi, radish, barley rice, and orange haha. Even dessert was on point. I love pyongyang naengmyeon so I really enjoyed it! But depending on your taste, you might find it a bit bland.

Haw Gongtang, regular size
Next up is Haw Gongtang~~ The flavor is really clean!! No gamey meat smell at all, and the pepper ratio was just right.

Basic sides included spicy chili paste (dadaegi), kimchi, orange, and salted shrimp! Every side dish had a reason to be there and was so tasty. Especially that kimchi!!!!!! Genuinely so delicious, clean, and refreshing. It was good enough that I'd be willing to buy it separately if they sold it on its own.
Can you see how hearty the amount of meat is? Genuinely a lot👍 Overall it's a mild flavor, but you can adjust it to taste with pepper, salt, salted shrimp, or dadaegi! I love mild flavors so I ate it as-is haha. And the kimchi + kkakdugi (radish kimchi) side dishes were so good I kept eating with that combo.

You can add dadaegi to taste haha. It's a slightly spicy chili paste! I like things clean so I didn't stir it in, just added a bit on top a few times haha. The gongtang was light and really, really delicious ☺️☺️

Even dessert was perfect. The orange came already peeled, so it was super easy to eat haha. Genuinely a work of art visually👍 The portion was generous too, so I left completely full haha.
Totally recommend Haw Gongtang in Seongsu!
