Seooreung Chinese restaurant: scallop jjamjjamyeon and free ice cream

In short

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a standalone Chinese restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. The writer stopped in before an IKEA trip for a small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), jjamjjamyeon (half jjajangmyeon, half jjamppong) and crab fried rice, and found that Jjamppong Jijeon uses scallops instead of mussels, which made the jjamppong broth better, while the jjajangmyeon was sweet and lightly seasoned. With 4 jjamppong mandu from the Danggeun review event and ice cream to take on the way out, it was a satisfying family meal.

✅ Before my first-ever trip to IKEA, I wanted something delicious first and found Jjamppong Jijeon. Lately I've been craving spicy, hearty food.

Inside Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch: dining room and parking

✅ Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a standalone Chinese restaurant at 424 Seooreung-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The place is clean and spacious at a glance. You don't need to worry about parking or seating here.

✅ All the tables seat 4 people. The tables themselves aren't huge, but the partitions make it feel private, which I really liked. You can also see the kitchen where they cook, which gave me confidence — Chinese restaurants use a lot of oil and the tables can get sticky, but here everything was clean and pleasant.

Self-service zone: side dish refills and ice cream after the meal

✅ The self-service zone at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch has all kinds of tableware, plus baby spoons and bowls. The side dishes are refillable, so try them and bring back whatever you like — I recommend the zha cai (pickled mustard root).

✅ The counter accepts FacePay and all kinds of payment, and Tabling is available too, in case you need it. And once you're done eating and heading out, there are various drinks and ice cream (1 per person) — such a small touch, but it made me happy.

Small tangsuyuk served with fried sweet potato

✅ We ordered the small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) to share. Even the small size was generous, with no gamey pork smell, and I could really enjoy the meat's flavor and the chewy fried coating. The sauce is the usual sweet-and-sour type. It's also served with an unusual side of fried sweet potato, which was a fun touch — delicious dipped in the sauce.

Jjamjjamyeon and crab fried rice: scallops instead of mussels

✅ We ordered jjamjjamyeon (half jjajangmyeon, half jjamppong) and crab fried rice. The jjajangmyeon had a sweet base and light seasoning, while the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) was hearty, salty, and spicy. One bite and it just clicked. Here they use scallops instead of mussels, which is unusual, and I found the scallops about 10 times tastier — I loved it. The crab fried rice had fluffy, wok-fried rice with great smoky flavor paired nicely with imitation crab meat, and when it felt a little plain, dipping it into the jjajang or jjamppong broth fixed that perfectly.

4 jjamppong mandu from the Danggeun review event

✅ These are the 4 jjamppong mandu (dumplings) I got from the review event. The slight spiciness cuts through the dumpling's richness, making them really tasty, and dipping them in the tangsuyuk sauce gave a nice spicy-sweet kick.

✅ Here's a photo of me eating happily with my kid. She kept wanting to go outside, which was a bit of a shame, but she still ate well and enjoyed it.
