Seooreung Chinese restaurant: icy cold jjamppong and fried mandu
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a two-floor Chinese restaurant at 424 Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. Over a holiday lunch the order was jijeon jjamppong, cold jjamppong, jijeon jjajangmyeon, sticky rice tangsuyuk (small) and the fried jjamppong mandu tasting plate (4 pieces), and the ice-flecked cold jjamppong and smoky fried jjamppong mandu stood out most. I went to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, a well-known spot in Goyang, on my last day off. Jjamppong Jijeon is a name you can trust, haha.

Parking and discounts at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch
This Goyang favorite has plenty of parking space.
There's a 10% discount for takeout and a 10% table discount for military visitors — nice perks.

How long is the lunch wait, and what the dining room is like
We visited during lunch and had a short wait, but the interior is spacious and food comes out fast, so we were seated quickly.
The tables were well spaced apart and the seats were comfortable.

What we ordered at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch
Here's the menu info from this Goyang favorite.
We ordered jijeon jjamppong, cold jjamppong, jijeon jjajangmyeon, small sticky rice tangsuyuk, and a fried jjamppong mandu tasting plate (4pc).

Once we sat down they gave us bottled water, which felt cool and hygienic.
Apparently Jjamppong Jijeon's chili powder is 100% domestic — they use their own sun-dried chili powder through contract farming, which made me trust the place even more.

The food came out fast, all at once, so I snapped some photos while it still looked amazing.

Sticky rice tangsuyuk (small): the fried sweet potato is the treat
Here's the small sticky rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). The portion was bigger than I expected, which was satisfying.
Being sticky rice tangsuyuk, it had that white, fluffy-looking coating piled high. The pork was tender and plump, so the texture was great.
The sauce was subtly sweet and clean-tasting, which I liked.
What I loved was that it came with sweet potato fritters mixed in — a nice surprise.

Cold jjamppong, the summer menu that stayed icy to the last bite
Since it's summer, I also ordered the cold jjamppong.

The cold jjamppong looked amazing. Squid, shrimp, scallops, and other ingredients were piled generously on top.
The noodles were especially springy and cold — this is the true summer dish, I thought.

The squid and scallops were plentiful and had a soft texture. And best of all, there was a layer of slush at the bottom of the bowl, so it stayed genuinely cold almost until the last spoonful.

The broth was cleanly spicy without any sweetness, and refreshing, so I kept scooping spoonful after spoonful. I added the seasoning sauce they served alongside, which brought a bit more kick to wake up the flavor.

Jijeon jjamppong at standard spice: how good is the broth?
This is the jijeon jjamppong, seemingly the most popular order at this Goyang favorite. My preference leans closer to hell-level spicy, but since my companions can't handle spice as well as I can, we went with the mild level.
Even though it wasn't the large size, the noodles were piled generously, which was satisfying. It also had squid and scallops, which made it delicious.

And the broth was truly incredible. It wasn't too salty but had a spicy, deep flavor, which explained why the table next to us all ordered jjamppong and had already grabbed the free rice ahead of time. Mixing rice into that jjamppong broth would be amazing too.

Jijeon jjajangmyeon with chunks of potato
You can't skip jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), so we ordered the jijeon jjajangmyeon too.
We asked for it non-spicy, and it had that classic sweet jjajang flavor we all know.
What I especially liked was the big chunks of potato inside, which brought a nostalgic taste. The sauce was generous, so mixing rice into it was also delicious.
Fried jjamppong mandu tasting plate (4 pieces): jjamppong in dumpling form
This is the fried jjamppong mandu (dumplings) tasting plate (4pc). The overall golden, crispy fried look was mesmerizing.
They were fairly large and came out straight from the fryer, still hot. After eating the cold jjamppong and jijeon jjamppong, taking a bite of the fried mandu was like discovering a whole different jjamppong flavor. That smoky, savory, spicy jjamppong taste spread through my mouth completely — genuinely delicious. The mandu skin was crispy too, totally my type.

The free banchan refill bar, dessert drinks and ice cream
This Seooreung favorite lets you freely help yourself to banchan (side dishes) at the refill bar. You can also get free rice. The refill bar was run cleanly, which built trust.

For dessert there was slush, coffee, plum juice, omija (schisandra berry) juice, and more — a satisfying variety of drinks.

And there was nostalgic ice cream bars, so we each grabbed one on our way out. Having Chinese food and then an ice cream bar on the way home felt like it cleared the palate completely.

Final verdict on Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, a Goyang favorite, seems to be a spot plenty of well-known people have visited too.
The food was delicious, service was fast, the parking lot was spacious, and the staff were friendly — revisit intent 200%.
