I hadn't heard of a good pork belly place in Geomdan Sageori in ages, so I went to check it out—and I was especially curious about the Dubai chewy ssamjang (dipping sauce) they had. Here's my honest review of Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch, which locals in Geomdan have been talking about ❤️

Located right in front of the Geomdan Hillstate apartments, this pork belly spot in Geomdan Sageori has a clean-looking exterior haha

There's a dedicated parking lot behind the store, so it's great if you're driving haha

Inside Taedon: seating and atmosphere

Walking inside, I was surprised—no smoke at all, unlike a typical BBQ place, and totally clean?

The tables were spaced out nicely, and the place is pretty large, so it seems perfect for a Geomdan work dinner too. There were so many people I couldn't even take interior photos ^^; During peak hours, a Naver reservation is a must haha

The 54,000-won handon platter plus a 5,000-won cheonggukjang

The side dishes came out right after we ordered via the table tablet. ✔️I picked the top-grade selected handon assorted platter (large) for ₩54,000, and added the cheonggukjang stew for an extra ₩5,000. Turns out ordering the platter gets you ₩2,000 off the stew.

The first thing I was curious about—the Dubai chewy ssamjang!! It has kadayif (shredded pastry) in it, which was so unusual

And then a generous basket of lettuce

The assorted mushrooms are free of charge?! Seriously amazing

And then the assorted platter arrived in all its glory.. giving us this much pork belly and kkodeulsal?!

I grilled the kkodeulsal first. Kimchi, bracken fern, and even flat mandu (dumplings) too 🤭🤭

The free sides: bibim jjolmyeon, mushrooms and steamed egg

And bibim jjolmyeon is also free haha Wait, owner, you're this generous?.. It really has that scallion-shred texture, and the combo with the meat is insane

And then the cheonggukjang I added for ₩5,000—honestly, what surprised me was.. wow, getting a properly made cheonggukjang at a BBQ restaurant haha. It has a whole thick chunk of tofu in it, and the combo of dense beans and other ingredients is insane 👏👏

Even the steamed egg is free haha And even though it's free, it's just genuinely delicious. Can you see how jiggly and firm it is here? haha

How the kkodeulsal and pork belly taste

Can you see the sizzling kkodeulsal here. You can eat it with the Dubai chewy ssamjang, or wrap it in grilled kimchi—you know that combo is amazing, right?

I also wrapped it in lettuce, and trying it in different combinations really brought out different flavors haha Especially the kkodeulsal—true to its name, the meat is so chewy. Really hit my sweet spot

The pork belly, needless to say, is also delicious

Finishing with self-serve kimchi fried rice: 2,000 won, cheese 3,000 won

Wow.. I felt like I was about to burst, but I heard the self-serve kimchi fried rice is a must-try, so I ordered it. And for just ₩2,000, it's this generous. I fried it up diligently haha

On top of that, you can add cheese for ₩3,000 more—wow, please make sure to order the cheese 👍👍 Can you see it stretching like this? Wow, even about to burst, I couldn't put my spoon down
