Goyang bakery café hot dog lunch and self-packed bread: Baedagol

One of the cafés I often go to in Goyang is Baedagol Bakery House (배다골베이커리하우스).

I like cafés you can drop into casually whenever you feel like it, rather than ones you visit once and never again — and this place has such a wide variety of baked goods and good coffee that I end up coming back often.

I had plans to meet a friend that day. Since we met without eating lunch separately, I checked out the bread first thing when I got to the café, and there was such a variety on the shelves that I spent a good while deciding what to get.

I visited on a weekday again this time, and there were more people than I expected. It's not a café that's only busy on weekends — plenty of people come by on weekdays too, so overall it felt lively.

That said, it wasn't so busy that it felt chaotic, so it was still good for sitting and talking with a friend. And most of all, parking is easy, so even on days I'm driving, there's little to worry about.

When making plans around Goyang, parking can sometimes make choosing a café tricky, so having one less thing to worry about is part of why I keep coming back. I was about to leave after eating at the café, but I wanted some at home too, so I packed a loaf of bread to bring with me.

I liked that you can self-pack here. Eating right at the café is nice, but there's also something fun about picking a loaf to take home like this.

I care a lot about atmosphere when choosing a café, and Baedagol Bakery House is a comfortable place to sit and talk with a friend. With so many kinds of bread, it's easy for each person to pick what they want, and since coffee is on hand too, it works well for dropping by between lunch and dinner plans.

and when you just want a light coffee and pastry, there are plenty of options too, so I end up trying something a bit different every time I visit. But the biggest reason is probably that this isn't a place I visited once or twice and stopped — it's the café that comes to mind whenever I want a café in Goyang.
