Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive: where I went craving both rice and noodles

I had wild sea bream seasonal greens pot rice and maze udon at Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive (고메무이 현대가든파이브점), a great Gardenfive restaurant. I was looking for somewhere to eat at Gardenfive and wanted pot rice and udon together, so I went. That day I ordered the wild sea bream seasonal greens pot rice and the maze udon!

I like rice dishes and I like noodle dishes, so picking just one isn't easy. hahaha But eating pot rice and maze udon together let me enjoy quite a variety in one meal. The pot rice with wild sea bream and seasonal greens especially is the kind of dish you'll think of when you want a meal that isn't strongly flavored.

I was glad I ordered the maze udon too. This is the story of Gomemui, a Gardenfive restaurant I was really satisfied with. Let's get started!
Where is Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive, and what's the inside like?
Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive is on the B1 floor of Gardenfive. It's good for a meal while shopping, and also for a filling bite after you've finished your errands at Gardenfive.

The interior felt clean overall. The tables and seats are fairly roomy, so it felt less cramped while eating. When you order several dishes like pot rice and udon, a lot of food ends up on the table, right?
But the dining space is relaxed, so it was comfortable to eat. Personally, taste matters, but I also like places with a tidy atmosphere, and Gomemui won me over on that point.
What I ordered at Gomemui and the prices

I ordered two dishes at Gomemui.
- Wild sea bream seasonal greens pot rice
- Maze udon ₩11,500
The pot rice, I was told, is a clean-tasting dish of wild sea bream meat served with seasonal greens. The maze udon (mazeudon) is a Japanese-style mixed udon: udon noodles topped with seasoned meat, a secret sauce, fresh vegetables and an egg yolk, all mixed together. It was exactly the order for me, wanting both rice and noodles. hahaha
With only pot rice I'd miss the noodles, and with only udon I'd miss the rice. To cut to the chase: ordering both was the right call!
What does the wild sea bream seasonal greens pot rice taste like?
Gomemui's wild sea bream seasonal greens pot rice is a mild dish where you eat sea bream and seasonal greens with the rice. Pot rice (solbap, rice cooked in a small iron pot) has a different charm from regular rice, doesn't it? Eating hot rice with several toppings makes it feel like a proper meal, which is why I tend to love pot rice dishes.

At Gomemui I could order pot rice with wild sea bream and seasonal greens, and getting both bream and greens together was already a plus. Meat and bold flavors are tasty too, but sometimes you crave something mild and clean like this.

Eating the pot rice that day, I thought I'd chosen well. The wild sea bream goes nicely with rice, and the seasonal greens add a fragrant flavor. Eating the bream with the greens felt different from eating either one alone.

With pot rice the rice itself matters, and being able to eat bream and greens together made it feel even more worthwhile. I like dishes where several ingredients come together, and this combination suited my taste. Rather than a strong seasoning, its charm is in eating the ingredients together, which I liked even more.
Pot rice is best with side dishes!

Gomemui's sea bream pot rice also came with side dishes that go well with it. Side dishes are a must with pot rice, aren't they? Eating a little side dish with the rice lets you enjoy the same rice in different flavors.

When I eat rice I like having side dishes rather than just the main, so I liked this setup. Eating the bream and greens and then adding side dishes made the meal feel richer. Pot rice is fun because you eat the toppings and rice together, so it's also nice to eat slowly.

When shopping at Gardenfive, a light snack is fine, but sometimes you want a proper rice meal. This is a dish you'll think of then.
How to eat Gomemui's maze udon

Gomemui's maze udon (₩11,500) is a Japanese-style mixed udon: udon noodles with seasoned meat, a secret sauce, fresh vegetables and an egg yolk, mixed together evenly. I like rice, but I like noodle dishes too, so I couldn't pass on the maze udon. hahaha
It's different from regular udon in broth, so I was even more excited. Maze udon is a dish you have to mix well to enjoy properly. Once you mix in the yolk too, the ingredients come together on the noodles and every bite is fun.
The plump texture of the udon noodles is appealing, and I liked being able to eat the meat topping and vegetables with them. It's not just noodles; you get several ingredients at once, which I liked even more. With maze udon, how well you mix the sauce and noodles seems to change the flavor of each bite.

I mixed it well too, and it had a different charm from the pot rice. Going from the mild sea bream pot rice to the maze udon, each dish had its own character, so alternating between them was fun.

The maze udon highlight: mixing rice into the leftover sauce
And the highlight of the maze udon!!!! After finishing the noodles, add rice and mix it all together!!!! The maze udon sauce is so tasty that mixing rice into it was really delicious haha For me, that was the highlight too haha

I left Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive satisfied with the sea bream seasonal greens pot rice and the maze udon. Hope this helps!
