Samsam Goroke: the croquette shop in Sokcho Jungang Market

Whenever you travel to Sokcho, Sokcho Jungang Market is a must-visit stop.

There's so much to eat there — from dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) to squid sundae to all kinds of fried snacks — but this time I wanted something a bit different, so I looked up Sokcho Jungang Market restaurants and ended up visiting Samsam Goroke!

Samsam Goroke is located inside Sokcho Jungang Market, right across from Manseok Dakgangjeong, so it was easy to spot while wandering around the market.

The crispy, colorful croquettes on display naturally caught my eye as I walked by.

I'd seen this place while researching Sokcho Jungang Market spots, but in person there were even more varieties than I expected, so it was hard to decide what to get.

Samsam Goroke menu and prices: 6-piece set ₩17,000

Samsam Goroke had more than just standard croquettes — plenty of menu items using Sokcho's rising-star ingredients too.

From Sokcho red crab croquette to abai croquette filled with squid sundae, meat-packed fire jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) croquette, rich pollack roe cream croquette, Chinese-style gochu japchae croquette, and even a pizza-flavored Sokcho potato croquette — the variety was really impressive.

You can buy them individually for around ₩3,000, or as sets — 3 pieces for ₩9,000, 6 pieces for ₩17,000 — which is great if you want to sample several flavors.

Since I wanted to try a bunch of flavors with my family, I got the 6-piece set with one of each!

As soon as I got home, we tried each of the croquettes we'd packed up, and since each one had different fillings, it was fun picking through them.

I spent like 183,940,183 minutes deciding what to eat first..

The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't just the usual potato or vegetable croquettes — with flavors like red crab, abai, fire jjamppong, and pollack roe cream, it felt like a snack that's genuinely fun to eat while traveling in Sokcho!

Cutting them in half showed the fillings packed inside, which made it easy for everyone to share and compare flavors.

You could grab one while browsing the market, or pack several to eat at your accommodation or share with family — these Sokcho Jungang Market croquettes were great either way. Highly recommend!

If you're like me and prefer tasting a little of many things rather than a lot of one, I'd recommend ordering the 6-piece set to compare flavors.

Sokcho Jungang Market has so many famous foods that walking around makes you want to buy everything.

If you're looking for something different from the usual market fare like dakgangjeong or seafood, Samsam Goroke is a really nice option.

In particular, being able to pick several kinds of croquettes at once made it good for eating while traveling and convenient for taking home too.

And if you spend over ₩10,000, they give you a parking voucher too.
