You can't skip the street food at Sokcho Jungang Market on a Sokcho trip 💕 There's a croquette shop packed with Sokcho specialties that I have to recommend as one of the best eats at Sokcho Jungang Market!!

Where is Samsam Goroke? Chicken alley, across from Manseok Dak-gangjeong

Samsam Goroke sits across from Manseok Dak-gangjeong, the famous dak-gangjeong (Korean fried chicken) chain at Sokcho Jungang Market :) The address is 28 Jungangsijang-ro 6-gil, Sokcho, Gangwon, South Korea, in the chicken alley.

Samsam Goroke menu and prices: how much is a croquette set?

Samsam Goroke has six kinds of croquettes, each priced 3,300–3,700 won individually. Buying the 3-piece set for 9,000 won or the 6-piece set for 17,000 won works out cheaper than buying them one by one!

They also sell three kinds of makgeolli and dongdongju (unfiltered rice wine) made in Sokcho, so if you want a light drink back at your accommodation, it's worth picking some up too. Sadly not for me being pregnant ㅠㅠ next time...💫

Ordering the 6-piece set at Samsam Goroke with no wait

I wanted to try a bit of everything so I ordered the 6-piece croquette set, and I was able to buy it right away with no wait.

They pack it neatly in a box, so it also makes a great gift for a Sokcho trip :)

Since the croquettes were just fried, they left the box open instead of sealing it haha. The delicious smell of croquettes wafted along while I carried it around 🐽

How they taste: abai, Sokcho potato, red crab and fire jjamppong

Each individual wrapper at Samsam Goroke has a cute sticker naming the menu item, so it's easy to pick which one you're eating 🫶 Of the six, I tried abai, Sokcho potato, Sokcho red crab, and fire jjamppong first.

🥨The abai croquette is filled with ojingeo sundae (squid stuffed with rice and filling), and the chewy squid texture and flavor were so appealing!

🥨The Sokcho potato croquette had the fluffy potato texture you'd expect from Gangwon-do, the land of potatoes — a flavor anyone would like without exception!

🥨The Sokcho red crab croquette, the signature one made with the local specialty red crab, wasn't spicy at all — just a mild smoky, savory crab flavor that felt refreshingly unique!

🥨The fire jjamppong croquette was packed with a spicy smoky heat on the level of Shin Ramyun — this one was totally my taste!! Regular croquettes can get greasy after a while, but the fire jjamppong one had that spicy kick that snapped my appetite right back to life haha!

I was too full for the other two, so I'll post a review once I get around to eating them 🤣
