Yonghyeon-dong tuna dinner for two, yam juice to roe rice: Donggyeong

In short

Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi (동경숙성참치) is an all-you-can-eat aged tuna restaurant on Nakseomseo-ro in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol, Incheon. A couple ordered the Royal set for 2 at dinner and had a pre-meal yam juice, three platters heavy on special cuts, ginkgo skewers, mini udon, tempura and albap (fish roe rice) to finish, and the tuna quality at Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi stayed consistent through every refill. For aged tuna with no fishy taste that fills you up without breaking the bank, Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi is an easy recommendation.

First photo from the visit to Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi in Yonghyeon-dong, Incheon

A friend recently told me there's a really good tuna place in Yonghyeon-dong, so my husband and I went to Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi (동경숙성참치) for dinner. I like tuna a lot, so my hopes were high, and the meal turned out even better than I expected. I'm so, so happy we went.

Is Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi only all-you-can-eat?

It's an all-you-can-eat tuna place, but there are also set meals (hansang) if you don't want the buffet!!! We ordered the Royal for 2.

Tuna is pricey, so I can't eat it often, but here you can go all-you-can-eat and just chomp away without worrying about the bill. Totally love it!

The moment we sat down, the side dishes were lined up one after another, and I was already so excited! There was also a drawer beside us stuffed with seaweed sheets, so we got ourselves ready right away haha.

Where to park at Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi

The restaurant has no private parking lot, so you use the public roadside parking nearby. I was a little worried about parking beforehand, but there are tons of roadside public lots around, and if you park within the marked boxes it's easy.

I heard there's no parking charge in the evening, so drivers might want to keep that in mind. We parked in the public lot right in front of the restaurant and had a designated driver called to take us home haha.

What does the pre-meal yam juice taste like?

Funnily enough, they serve a yam drink (maju) before the meal. Going by the name alone it sounds like it would taste awful, but it was super sweet and nutty, and really good!!! I felt incredibly healthy that day haha.

First tuna platter: how aged, and which special cuts?

The first platter was beautifully aged and packed with special cuts. Just look at it!! Doesn't it look delicious at first glance?? I immediately understood why this place is famous in Yonghyeon-dong.

Honestly, since it's all-you-can-eat I didn't expect much, but the aging was really, really good. It melts softly in your mouth and you can still taste the freshness. I'm a bit of a foodie myself, and I fully agree this is a genuinely delicious spot. If you're looking for aged tuna in Incheon, definitely give it a try.

I loved that there was none of that typical tuna funk and no fishy taste. People who usually can't handle tuna because of the fishy smell could probably enjoy it here without any trouble.

One of the best parts was the number of special cuts. You get to try many cuts that are hard to come by normally, which makes eating fun. Each cut has a slightly different texture and flavor, so tasting them one by one was a treat. The owner also explained each cut and told us what to eat it with, which made it even tastier.

What comes with the tuna besides sashimi?

The Royal also comes with side dishes like ginkgo skewers, mini udon, shrimp sushi and tempura. Ginkgo skewers are something I really love, and they're here too, hehe. The mini udon was just right to eat alongside!

Look how glossy it is...! Seriously, this is a great restaurant.

Two cute pieces of shrimp sushi come out too haha.

How do tuna refills work?

When we were almost done with the tuna, the staff refilled it on their own. The white cut on the left had an amazing texture! And the way it was deliberately rolled up was a stroke of genius!

Second tuna platter, refilled by the staff without asking

They handed us this saying it was tuna lips, and apparently it's a lump of collagen. Collagen is precious, so I ate it up quickly haha.

Dishes that followed at Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi

I was getting fuller and fuller, but they kept bringing tempura and other dishes haha. The tempura was fried really well and was so good.

Clearing the third tuna platter

This is the third platter. Honestly I thought I wouldn't be able to eat much tuna, but it was so good that we cleaned out all three platters~~!! As we were leaving, the owner was about to bring one more, but I was too full and asked him to stop. Looking at the photos, though, I want more again... (sob)

Finishing with albap (fish roe rice)

Really, truly last, we finished with egg rice (albap, rice topped with fish roe). It looks plain, but it had a faint sweetness and was really delicious. Just right as a finisher.

Was the all-you-can-eat tuna at Donggyeong good to the end?

Even after several refills, the tuna quality stayed consistent. With buffets, often only the first plate is decent and it gets disappointing later, but here it was very satisfying right to the end. It's not just the tuna: the side dishes were excellent too, and I loved the whole lineup, which is really, really good.

I thought my stomach would burst. Between the tuna and the side dishes, I was stuffed before I knew it. But the snacks were so good that the drinks also went down really smoothly haha.

Personally, this visit made me remember it as Incheon's go-to aged tuna spot. The aging was good, the taste was clean with no fishiness, and the special cuts were plentiful. On top of that, friendly staff and a hygienic, well-kept restaurant made me very satisfied overall.

If you're looking for a great tuna place in Yonghyeon-dong, I sincerely recommend Donggyeong Sukseong Chamchi. Even as an all-you-can-eat, the tuna quality was great and not a single side dish let me down. Amazingly delicious. Please go try it!!! It was a day I finally had a properly full tuna meal in a long time. Next time I plan to bring the whole family. Honestly, the best tuna place I've been to lately!!!~~
