Sasang Paldo Jokbal in Deokpo, Sasang, Busan serves jokbal, spicy jokbal, and cold jokbal. A place I fell for because the spicy jokbal was just too good!

I went to Sasang Paldo Jokbal, a jokbal spot in Deokpo, Sasang, Busan. The jokbal is good, but the spicy jokbal was seriously amazing!! The dining hall is run clean and well too!

Inside the dining room and what's on the menu

The inside of Sasang Paldo Jokbal, a spot in Deokpo, Sasang, Busan, is on the spacious side. The AC was blasting, and the interior and bathroom were both clean. Jokbal places are usually run as delivery-only, but this one also runs a dine-in hall, which makes it feel even more trustworthy.

Three menu items: jokbal / spicy jokbal / cold jokbal! I wanted to try the spicy jokbal but worried it'd be too spicy. When I asked, they said the heat is adjustable and there's even a non-spicy option, so I ordered jokbal and spicy jokbal half-and-half in the basic size.

Side dishes, the self-serve bar and baby tableware

Neatly set basic side dishes at Sasang Paldo Jokbal. A combo that went really well with the jokbal.

I didn't ask, but they gave us baby dishware too. As a mom, stuff like this genuinely touches my heart T_T haha

Side dish refills are self-serve at the bar. I love lettuce so much I went back and forth a few times!

The self-serve bar is clean too, right? At a lot of Korean BBQ places these are pretty messy, but Sasang Paldo Jokbal's was tidy too, which made me very happy.

The rice ball side for 3,000 won

There were several kinds of side menu items too. It felt like a shame to eat spicy jokbal without a rice ball... so first I ordered just one rice ball haha

I was planning to order more this and that as we ate, but I just couldn't add anything more. Too full!!! I was really curious about the makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) too T_T haha. Next time I'll come with more people and try all the different sides.

The baby ate the rice ball really well too! Price: ₩3,000!!

Is the basic size enough for two adults and a baby?

After a short wait, the jokbal arrived. Food came out on the faster side.

Even the basic size had a generous portion. Splitting it three ways between 2 adults and 1 baby, we were seriously full. And it's not the kind of trick where they pile bones at the bottom to fake the volume. There was genuinely a lot of meat underneath, and even the bones weren't meatless bones — they had meat still attached. Honestly, I'd never seen bones like that eating jokbal before, my husband and I both did a double take.

No gamey smell at all, and chewy and delicious. I gave the lean meat part to the baby and she ate it well! If you're bringing a baby, definitely order the half-and-half.

We ate a ton of lettuce wraps that day haha. With regular jokbal, if you order badly the lean meat part can be tough, but there was none of that at Sasang Paldo Jokbal — I was very satisfied. The skin part was completely chewy-springy, the texture was amazing.

How spicy is the spicy jokbal? A spice-wimp's verdict

And the spicy jokbal!!!! I'm seriously a spice-wimp?? So with spicy jokbal I always try the mildest option, and every time it was still way too spicy for me T_T, eating it with tears and a runny nose — but Sasang Paldo Jokbal in Deokpo, Sasang, Busan wasn't like that at all.

For my spice-wimp palate it was just a light kick of heat — exactly the right amount to enjoy eating. And more than anything, the sauce was seriously delicious. The jokbal itself had great chewy texture, the sauce soaked in well, and on top of being delicious, the two of us completely inhaled it.

The spicy jokbal was truly next-level. If you go to Sasang Paldo Jokbal, you have to try the spicy jokbal. Eating in the hall, quite a few other customers kept coming in, and the delivery app notifications kept going off too. This was a neighborhood favorite I never knew about. +) The spicy jokbal's heat level is adjustable — you can pick from non-spicy to Shin Ramyun-level spicy, whatever suits your taste.

Would we go back to Sasang Paldo Jokbal?

The jokbal was delicious, but the spicy jokbal was seriously the standout at Sasang Paldo Jokbal. The portions were generous too, quite different from your typical market jokbal or delivery jokbal. Would I go back? 10000%!! Next time I need to try the cold jokbal too!!
