Why we picked a pork belly spot in Sasang before a concert
I was in Sasang for a show and, since I was there anyway, I wanted daepaesamgyeopsal (thin-sliced pork belly), so I went looking and ended up at this pork belly restaurant. I usually love daepaesamgyeopsal, so I was excited to see what menu I'd try!!

The outside of the restaurant!! The sign was easy to spot, so even on my first visit it wasn't hard to find. Overall it had the kind of exterior that made it feel easy to walk in, eat, and leave. It's also only about a 5–10 minute walk from Seobu Bus Terminal!

First-year students at Silla University can also use vouchers here!

What's on the unlimited self-bar for 1,500 won per person
For ₩1,500 per person you get unlimited access to the self-bar!! There's a self-bar set up on one side. While eating meat you end up wanting more wraps or side dishes, and it was convenient to grab as much as you needed. Rather than piling up a ton at the start, I went back for more whenever something ran low.

There were various sauces, gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), bean sprouts, kimchi, scallion salad, onions, perilla leaves, lettuce, chili peppers, and more.

On the side there was ssammu (pickled radish for wraps), mushrooms, cheese, potatoes, dumplings, and more!!

Plum tea and hovenia (raisin tree fruit) tea seemed like a nice palate cleanser after the meal.

Grilling 5 servings of kkodeul daepae with steamed egg
What we ordered was 5 servings of kkodeul daepae!! (There were 2 of us.) We'd eaten bread before coming, so we were already full and didn't order anything extra.

On the grill, they cooked the meat together with bean sprouts, kimchi, and mushrooms we brought over from the self-bar.

The kkodeul daepae really was chewy just like its name suggests~~ True to daepaesamgyeopsal, the meat was sliced thin, so it started cooking the moment it hit the grill. Once it was browned and cooked through, I could really taste the savory flavor, and because it was so thin I just kept picking up piece after piece without feeling heavy about it. Before I knew it, the meat on the grill had disappeared.

Eating only meat felt like it was missing something, so we also tried the steamed egg we'd ordered together. It was warm and soft, and good to pair between bites of meat.

We also prepared wraps, which are a must with grilled meat. Putting a nicely cooked piece of kkodeul daepae on lettuce with extras and eating it in one big bite — meat really does taste best in a wrap. The thin meat was also easy to fit into a wrap, and mixing it with different sides was delicious too!!!!

Making heart-shaped fried rice after the pork belly
After eating our fill of meat, naturally the last step was... fried rice, which can't be skipped at a Korean BBQ place!!! We grabbed more sides from the self-bar, ordered 2 bowls of rice, and fried it ourselves!! At the self-bar there was dried seaweed flakes, fried rice sauce, and sesame oil, so we grabbed those for our self-made fried rice!

(I tried shaping it into a heart once..haha..) Frying the rice on the grill with the leftover flavors from the meat made for a satisfying way to finish the meal. It was surprising how there was still room for fried rice even after eating plenty of meat. The course of finishing with fried rice after meat is really hard to give up!!

Wrapped the fried rice in perilla leaves too!! haha If you're looking for a place in Sasang to grill meat with friends or family, I recommend Kkodeul Daepae Sasang branch!!
