I love sweet pumpkin soup, but have I ever made it at home? Nope 🙋♀️ Prepping the pumpkin, steaming it, blending it, cooking it—it’s such a hassle... haha. Even more so while raising a child 😇 So I always bought it outside, but this time I tried Garuseonsaeng Drinkable Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup, which supposedly only needs water. Will it taste like the sweet pumpkin soup I know, and is it really that convenient? Let’s try it myself 🎃

Korean sweet pumpkin with soybeans, almonds, and oats

Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup ingredient information

Since it’s something I’m eating, I took a look at the ingredients too. Garuseonsaeng Drinkable Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup contains 37.3% Korean soybeans, 14% Korean sweet pumpkin, 18% oats, plus almonds, unrefined raw sugar, and sea salt.

It isn’t simply sweet pumpkin powder—it uses beans as a base and adds oats and almonds too. That must be why it’s called sweet pumpkin “bean cream” soup, haha. Since it contains soybeans and almonds, definitely check the ingredients if you have allergies 🙌

Mix with water and enjoy hot or cold

Recipe for Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup mixed with water

The standard recipe is three scoops (45g) of Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup with about 150ml of water. I wanted to start with a lighter serving, so I first mixed two scoops with around 100ml of water.

Just mix it well, and you’re done! Sweet pumpkin soup, complete 🎃 Seriously easy, haha.

Sweet pumpkin soup finished by mixing with water

No need to prep pumpkin, steam it, blend it, or cook it—and no pot or blender to wash either 👏 Yay~~~ By the way, I think you can adjust the water amount a little to your taste. I like it thick, so it tasted better to me with less water!

Thickly mixed Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup

A nutty finish rather than pure sweetness

The taste was a little different from the super-sweet pumpkin soup I had imagined. It’s not completely unsweet—the characteristic mild sweetness of sweet pumpkin is there—but it also has the nutty flavor of beans and grains. It felt like a nutty sweet pumpkin soup with just a hint of soy milk! There is sweetness, but the nutty flavor stayed with me more afterward.

A cup of nutty Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup

Then I mixed some in a cup to drink while watching my favorite late-night horror-story show in the evening.

Warm Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup mixed in a cup

When you’re watching something scary, it has to be warm, haha 👻 Sipping it from a cup, it was soup but also nice to drink like a latte.

Sweet Pumpkin Bean Cream Soup mixed with cold water

And on days when I get overheated while parenting on my own, I tried it with cold water too. It dissolved better than I expected in cold water, so it was fine to enjoy chilled. If you’re having it cold, you have to add ice too, haha 🧊

Soup enjoyed chilled with ice

My conclusion: an easy breakfast before work

After trying it hot and cold, I preferred it hot! My husband preferred it chilled! Different tastes, haha. For me, the sweet pumpkin’s mild sweetness and the nutty bean-and-grain flavor worked a little better when it was warm.

My husband tried it too and said it would be good for breakfast, so lately we’ve been mixing up a cup before he goes to work, haha. I always felt bad because he often leaves without time for breakfast, but this is quick to make, so it’s convenient to have on hand as a simple breakfast replacement 🙌

It was easy to enjoy because all you do is mix the powder with water. It’s a soup where the mild sweetness of sweet pumpkin comes through alongside the nutty flavor of beans 🎃 My husband has been enjoying it as a breakfast replacement lately too 🙌
