Why visit Slow Cali Hongdae on a weekday evening?
This is Slow Cali Hongdae Entrance Station Branch, a Hongdae salad and poke restaurant everyone talks about.

Lately I'd been craving spicy, heavy food nonstop, and eating like that left my stomach bloated and my body feeling sluggish. So this time I wanted something a bit lighter and healthier, and headed to Slow Cali Hongdae Entrance Station Branch, famous around Hongdae as a poke spot. It's easy to get to near Hongdae Entrance Station, and the vibe felt totally fine for eating alone — there were plenty of people even on a weekday evening.

Is Slow Cali Hongdae good for eating alone?
Inside, Slow Cali Hongdae Entrance Station Branch has a wood-tone interior mixed with white lighting, which felt really clean overall. It had that healthy vibe poke places tend to have, and the tables weren't packed too close together, so eating solo felt totally comfortable. It was quiet and pleasant overall — a good space to have a light meal and just rest for a bit.

Slow Cali menu and how to order a poke bowl
Slow Cali's menu has all kinds of salads, and among the lower-calorie options were chicken breast egg poke, lime ponzu octopus poke, oriental tofu poke, and classic tuna poke. Ordering poke was simple with the kiosk, and since the photos on the kiosk were nicely shot, picking something was easy with no hesitation. You could also choose the base for the poke — brown rice, buckwheat noodles, or only salad — and there were plenty of sauces to choose from too, which made it super convenient.

Next to the kiosk there's also a cute receipt review event draw, so it might be fun to join in too!

All-in-one poke: octopus, salmon and tuna in one bowl
What I ordered that day was the all-in-one poke and the smoked duck salad. One was fish, one was meat, and it turned out to be a really satisfying pairing.

First off, the all-in-one poke came packed with a variety of ingredients in one bowl, and it looked delicious just from the presentation. Fresh vegetables, rice, and various toppings came together, and each ingredient had a different texture and flavor. Overall it tasted light and clean, easy to eat without feeling heavy. The savory ingredients and crunchy vegetables mixed together for a rich texture, and mixing it bite by bite let the flavors of the various ingredients blend naturally.

What I especially liked about the all-in-one poke was that it had octopus, salmon, and tuna, so I could enjoy several different flavors in one bowl. The plump octopus had a chewy texture that got better with each bite, with a light yet subtle savory depth that went well with the fresh vegetables. The salmon was soft and moist with that characteristic savory, mild flavor, melting smoothly in the mouth — this was especially good. The tuna was clean and light, and eating it together with the other ingredients added a savory richness that made everything feel harmonious. The three kinds of seafood each had different textures and flavors, so every bite tasted a little different, and pairing it with the crunchy vegetables made it even more refreshing. It wasn't heavy or spicy, and the fresh flavors and varied textures of the seafood really stood out — a poke that felt both filling and clean.

How was the smoked duck salad at Slow Cali?
Slow Cali's smoked duck salad combined duck with a subtle smoky aroma and fresh vegetables really well. The smoked duck had a salty, savory flavor that was delicious on its own, and eating it with the crisp, refreshing vegetables made the rich duck flavor feel even cleaner. The contrast between the tender duck and the crunchy fresh vegetables made it more enjoyable than I expected. Both menu items were clean dishes that let the natural flavor of the ingredients shine rather than being heavy or spicy — a good fit for a day when you want to eat light but still feel satisfied.
Final thoughts on Slow Cali Hongdae
Overall, Slow Cali was a place where I could enjoy a variety of fresh ingredients while still finishing a filling meal without feeling weighed down. The all-in-one poke with octopus, salmon, and tuna together was especially satisfying since I could taste several kinds of seafood at once, and the smoked duck salad was also light and clean to enjoy. Slow Cali is a great place to visit if you're looking for a meal that's healthy yet delicious, or on a day when you want to eat light but still feel full! I'd like to come back here again next time I'm craving fresh poke.
