Songdo cookie café with flat white and scoop cake: Standard Square
In short
Standard Square (스탠다드스퀘어) is a roastery dessert café on Keonbensia-daero in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon, that roasts its own beans and bakes cookies and desserts every day. At the blue-and-white Standard Square, the writer had a flat white, a hazelnut dark chocolate cookie and a tropical scoop cake, and enjoyed the nutty coffee, the dense, fudgy cookie and the bright grapefruit-and-passion-fruit scoop cake. Standard Square is worth a stop for anyone in Songdo who wants a good-looking café and good desserts in one place.

I finally found a place with a vibe I love and desserts to match, so I rushed over with a review! ☺️ Today's spot is a hot place that everyone in Songdo, Incheon, who knows, already knows: Standard Square ❣️
What kind of café is Standard Square?
Standard Square opened its first shop in Songdo in 2018. It got so popular that it now runs four spaces, including a Bupyeong branch, Cookie Lab and Coffee Lab. It's a solid brand! They even roast their beans themselves on a powerful roaster at Coffee Lab in Namdong Industrial Complex and bring them to the shop 👍

What is the atmosphere like at Standard Square in Songdo?
The Songdo shop's signature seems to be a vivid, deep blue that grabs your eye from the outside. The clean, modern white and blue interior was really impressive. I'll show you the photos along with each item I ate, one by one!

Inside, stylish posters and minimal, no-fuss furniture are arranged around the room 🤩 White tile floors with navy blue accents make it feel fresh and trendy. On one side, Standard Square merchandise and their own roasted beans are displayed nicely, so browsing was fun too.
There's a neatly organized self-service bar on one side, plus a free Wi-Fi sign. You can tell they care about their customers!

What cookies are in the Standard Square showcase?
The showcase was full of plump, tempting cookies: choco ganache, Lotus, Dwaeji Bar (a Korean ice cream bar flavor), strawberry, salted peanut butter, blueberry crumble and more. My eyes almost popped out when I saw it, haha!
They say the desserts are baked fresh in the shop every day using only carefully chosen ingredients: organic flour, grade 1 antibiotic-free eggs, French chocolate and fresh cream, organic sugar and so on.

And the scoop cake, the reason I came today!!!

What did I order?

I ordered a flat white, a hazelnut dark chocolate cookie, and a tropical scoop cake that I ordered as if hypnotized after seeing the poster. Everything came on a blue tray, and the color match was so pretty that I took a ton of photos before eating 🫶🏻

How does the Standard Square flat white taste?
The flat white let me taste the rich espresso much more than a regular latte would. I drank it first to wet my throat. The menu describes it as a café latte made with a thin layer of milk foam and less milk, and it definitely was!
Look at that gradient where the milk and espresso layer and blend naturally 🤩 Maybe because they use their own roasted house blend, it was very nutty and smooth with no burnt taste!! It balanced perfectly with the sweet desserts. If you love coffee, I highly recommend the flat white.

How was the hazelnut dark chocolate cookie?
The hazelnut dark chocolate cookie was a heavy, fudgy homemade cookie: slightly crisp outside, moist and chewy inside. Can you feel that weight and fudginess even in the photo? They clearly didn't skimp on good ingredients, because one bite filled my mouth with rich dark chocolate!
It could have been just sweet, but the nutty hazelnut pieces here and there made the texture fun and added richness, so I never got sick of it and kept going back!! It was the textbook homemade cookie ☺️ Take a sip of flat white, then a bite of this cookie, and honestly it's heaven.

What does the tropical scoop cake taste like?
The tropical scoop cake, the highlight of this visit, comes in a clear glass bowl. It looks fresh and refreshing, whether it's summer or fall.

I scooped up a big spoonful: moist cake sheet, soft cream, and fruit on top all blend together gently. Best of all, the fresh grapefruit pieces and white, clear pearls like popping boba burst in your mouth, and the texture is so much fun!
The bitterness of grapefruit and the sweet-tartness of passion fruit meet the softness of the cream, leaving your mouth feeling very clean and refreshed!!!
Is Standard Square in Songdo worth visiting?
Standard Square is a place where you can enjoy high-quality homemade desserts baked daily along with specialty coffee that's roasted in-house and fresh ❣️ Thanks to the stylish interior, even casual snaps look like the photo of your life, and the taste was perfect too, so this café tour left me very satisfied. If you're looking for a café in Songdo with a great atmosphere and delicious desserts, don't hesitate to visit!
