The weather's been so nice lately and there's so much to see that I keep finding myself drifting toward Yeouido.

A few days ago, I met up with a friend in Yeouido and we had a blast shopping and wandering around here and there. We lost track of time browsing, and before long my stomach started sending signals that it was getting hungry!

The problem was I had a separate dinner appointment scheduled, so eating a full, heavy dinner right then didn't quite make sense. Hyeonseonine is already a well-known tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot, so a lot of you probably already know it. This IFC Mall branch sits inside IFC Mall right along the passage line that connects The Hyundai Seoul (Hyeonbaek) to Yeouido Station — the location is honestly fantastic!

It was the perfect spot to swing by without any pressure while moving between shopping stops.

True to the "Premium" in the name, the store's interior was clean and well put together, making it a really pleasant place to stop for lunch or a snack break at IFC Mall in Yeouido.

What we picked at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch was the combo set that lets you enjoy gimbap (seaweed rice roll), fried snacks, sundae, and tteokbokki all at once. Looking at the menu, I wanted the tteokbokki, I wanted the fried snacks, and I couldn't pass up the sundae either.

Every single item on Hyeonseonine's menu feels like a signature dish, which makes choosing a happy kind of dilemma!

In the end, we ordered the combo set without hesitation, since it let us enjoy gimbap, fried snacks, sundae, and tteokbokki all together.

When the combo set arrived, my friend and I both let out a gasp the second we saw it.

It stayed true to the basics but was packed with satisfying fillings, giving it that flavor that just sticks to your mouth. The gimbap, too, disappeared endlessly once dipped in the tteokbokki broth.

Sundae: the texture that stole the plate

The sundae (Korean blood sausage) had no off smell at all and was savory, and I especially loved the chewy, bouncy texture of the osori-gamtu (pork lung) part! It's tasty dipped in salt too, but the tteokbokki sauce really is an all-purpose seasoning.

My friend and I barely had time to talk as we wolfed it all down. We'd gone in just to fill our stomachs without going too heavy, but it was so good we cleaned the bowl completely!

The complimentary fish cake broth on the side was excellent too.

Craving Hyeonseonine's combo set all over again

Writing this post right now during a late-night hungry moment, I keep thinking about that one piece of gimbap we regretfully left behind because we were just too full that day... (lol)
