Peach vs mango yogurt mochi taste test in Gyeongju: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fresh-fruit mochi dessert shop on the main street of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Visiting on a weekday afternoon with no wait, the writer took out both peach yogurt and mango yogurt Hwangnamdaewang mochi from the six-flavor lineup — the peach, made with juicy water peaches, burst with juice and hit the spot, while the mango's rice cake wrapper had gone a bit mushy though the fruit itself was extremely sweet. On fruit sweetness alone, Tareudang delivers.

There's honestly so much good food on Hwangnidang-gil, but I could never pass up a peach yogurt mochi haha 🍑 I'd wanted to try Tareudang's fruit mochi for so long, and thanks to a good opportunity, here's my honest review of the peach yogurt mochi I finally got to try ♥

Finding Tareudang on Hwangnidang-gil
Tareudang sits right on the main street of Hwangnidang-gil, so it's easy to spot while you're out exploring — you could stumble on it just walking by! The cute sign catches your eye from far away too, so it's not hard to find at all.

Weekday wait and parking
This is the line at Tareudang 🧡🧡 Since I came on a weekday, I got a free pass with zero wait.

There's no dedicated parking lot, so I'd recommend using the public parking nearby. That said, on weekdays it seems fine to pull up briefly in front of the shop just to grab a takeout order.

The six Hwangnamdaewang mochi flavors
The Hwangnamdaewang mochi lineup 🧡 six flavors: fresh chocolate / peach yogurt / mango yogurt / fig yogurt / pineapple / gold kiwi. Tareudang says they use domestic glutinous rice cake made fresh at a local mill and whole seasonal fruit, following a same-day-made, same-day-sold principle.

Box and cooler-bag packaging, plus the discount
Write a Naver photo review and you get a free box plus cooler bag. My mochi deserve the best, so obviously I went for it * Also, buy 4 or more mochi and get ₩500 off each 🧡

That day the fresh chocolate and peach yogurt had the same wrapping, so the staff member kindly explained each one as she packed them for me.

It was a sweltering day, but the cooler bag had my back!

The packaging box is pretty too, so it'd make a great gift — who doesn't love getting dessert as a present, haha 🧡 And true to the name Hwangnamdaewang (big/great), these mochi are seriously huge.

How the peach yogurt mochi tasted
The one I'd been most excited for: peach yogurt mochi 🍑 Inside the chewy mochi wrapper was yogurt cream and a whole peach, so the juice burst out with every bite! I love water peaches, so this really hit the spot. The yogurt cream was delicious, the fruit was delicious — everything about it worked, haha 😋

And the mango yogurt mochi?
Next up, mango yogurt mochi 🥭 The mochi wrapper had gone a little too mushy so the texture was a bit disappointing, but the mango itself was incredibly sweet 💛 Tareudang really is a fruit lover's spot.

Tareudang, a dessert spot worth knowing on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Chewy rice cake + yogurt cream + 100%-sweet seasonal fruit — how could you not love that combo? If you're heading to Gyeongju, definitely stop by.
