I visited Fluffy Bake Shop, a dessert spot in Gongdeok. It's especially famous for baked sweets like financiers and madeleines, so I tried them myself and I'll share my recommendations too. 💛

Here's what I picked! I love crisp-edged financiers, but the madeleines here looked so good, and the canelés and egg tarts did too. (A situation where everything on the menu looks delicious 😵‍💫) So I picked a bit of everything, haha.

Fluffy Bake Shop is a Gongdeok dessert café that opened in 2022 and has been running for over 4 years. It has held its place as a dessert favorite in Gongdeok for quite a while, and no wonder: it uses Lescure Charentes-Poitou AOP butter, top-grade French butter, and the baked-goods menu is really varied. New items seem to come out steadily. And from the shop's Instagram, it looks like the owner donates regularly too. haha

The kind owner wrapped everything up so prettily, and I'm heading home. Can't wait to see how good it is 🤍

What to order at Fluffy Bake Shop

My top 3 at Fluffy Bake Shop are the egg tart, the chocolate financier and the lemon madeleine. I loved everything, but these three were especially good.

Egg tart with a flaky pastry crust

The egg tart at Fluffy Bake Shop has a pastry-style crust. Just look at that tart shell..💛 For egg tarts I prefer flaky pastry over pie crust, so this was right up my alley.. It's seriously good. The filling is generous and rich, and Mom loved it too!

Chocolate financier: crisp outside, moist inside, even after thawing

The chocolate financier at Fluffy Bake Shop was so good, crisp outside and moist inside. My financier standards got a bit higher after Jeongdong Munhwasa this summer (^^), but the financier here is completely delicious, haha. And that was even after freezing and thawing, with no air fryer, and it was still great..🤎

Classic sugar-glazed lemon madeleine

I can't leave out the frozen-then-thawed lemon madeleine 🍋 The sugar coating on the outside is sweet and adds a little texture, and the lemon scent spreading softly through the moist madeleine makes it a perfectly classic lemon madeleine!

You know a place that nails the basics is a good place, right? I plan to come back, and come back again, until I've tried everything on the menu, haha.
