Why Café Meomureum's salt bread keeps pulling me back

I kept thinking about the salt bread, so I came back to Café Meomureum (카페 머무름) in Jeongja-dong, Suwon. I went all the way around and ended up here again, haha. Honestly, nowhere has better salt bread than this place. Ever since my last visit I couldn't stop thinking about it. And my favorite avocado banana juice too.

You know how some cafés are hard to stay away from once you've had a taste? Café Meomureum is exactly that. I said I'd definitely be back, and literally, it happened, haha. Here's my really, truly satisfied Café Meomureum revisit review, starting now~

Café Meomureum is at 226 Jangan-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on the second floor of the Dongsin Complex Shopping Center. It's open 09:00-20:00 on weekdays and 10:00-20:00 on weekends, and parking is available.

Where do you park at Café Meomureum?

You can park near the shopping complex or inside the apartment complex. A café with parking is such a rare find, right? Café Meomureum is in an apartment shopping complex, but the apartment has no barrier gate. So you can park near the shops, and if there's no space, it's fine to find a spot inside the apartment complex.

Finding the second floor of Dongsin Complex Shopping Center

After parking, walk into the Dongsin Complex building and go up to the second floor, and there's Café Meomureum. It's not hard to find. Just follow the smell of yummy bread, hahaha.

Café Meomureum interior and seating

The inside of Café Meomureum is a mix of wood-tone interior, plants and warm lighting. Walking in, I felt it again: the atmosphere is good every single time. It's a space that makes me feel happy like it's my first visit, every time.

There are group seats too, so it's good for get-togethers, and the pretty paintings and white-toned interior are really lovely, haha.

This is my favorite spot in Café Meomureum, the window seat, and the sun comes in so well. Having good coffee and a piece of bread here while reading a book would be healing all by itself.

A really great point about Café Meomureum is that it has seats set aside for working on a laptop. If you're looking for a good café for laptop work in Suwon, I really, really recommend Café Meomureum.

Café Meomureum has a wide range of coffee and non-coffee drinks, but what makes it special is the bread, the bread! The breads they bake themselves are really delicious.

Of the breads I've tried, definitely get the salt bread, and the garlic bread is really good too, so if you like it, I highly recommend it, haha. The butter rice cake (butter tteok) is also much chewier than what you get elsewhere, with a strong butter aroma.

I came all the way to Jeongja-dong just for Café Meomureum's salt bread. I don't live near here and had no appointment, I just kept thinking about the salt bread, so I came, haha. I still haven't found a place crunchier than this T_T Isn't that the real reason to revisit? A place you come back to because you're craving the food. People also kept calling to ask whether they had salt bread or garlic bread, hahaha.

The coffee here is brewed from nutty beans, maybe that's why it suits my taste exactly, and the avocado banana juice, as always filling and healthy, isn't sweet and tastes fresh, so I'm satisfied every time.

How does Café Meomureum's salt bread taste?

Café Meomureum's salt bread is so crunchy on the outside it cracks, and soft and moist inside. I've been to quite a lot of places that sell salt bread. But this one is on another level. It's not just crispy outside, it's a crack. The crunch is loud enough that you can hear it when you bite, yet the inside is really soft and moist. A rich butter flavor comes up, with a lightly salty finish.

When the salt bread comes out, and how it tastes once cooled

The salt bread at Café Meomureum is said to come out at 10 a.m. every day. Last time I timed it to eat it right as it came out. It was really good then, and it's still good even after cooling. I guarantee this is a place that does salt bread really well.

Revisiting Café Meomureum: the verdict

Another revisit, and Café Meomureum still doesn't disappoint. I think I'll order the salt bread and avocado banana juice every time I come. Cafés that bake their own bread aren't common, and Café Meomureum's bread quality is really reliable. If you haven't been to this salt bread café in Jeongja-dong, Suwon yet, go. You'll keep thinking about it and come back, hahaha.
