Suwon BBQ Sunday lunch with a toddler: pork skin at Jipbul Taebaek
In short
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is a straw-fire pre-seared Korean BBQ restaurant on Nahyeseok-gil in Ingye-dong, Suwon. On a Sunday around noon with a two-year-old, the table ordered two servings of jipbul samgyeopsal (straw-fire pork belly), pork skin and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), and a baby chair, sofa seating and staff grilling meant nobody had to touch the grill. The straw-fire pork belly had no gamey smell and the pork skin was sweet and chewy, so Jipbul Taebaek is an easy pick for a meal out with a small child.

Introducing a genuinely great meat restaurant in Suwon's Ingye-dong that's easy to visit with a baby and stands out for its straw-fire pre-searing — Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch!

Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is open daily from 11:30 to 1:00 the next day. Since it's open early and late, it's great for a family lunch and just as good for a work dinner. There's no parking lot, so you'll need a nearby lot, but there are plenty of public and free street parking spots around. There's a baby chair, and the restrooms are clean too.
Where is Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch on Nahyeseok-gil?
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch sits right on Nahyeseok-gil, so it's easy to find. It's a newly opened place, and even at around noon on a Sunday there were already a lot of customers. I guess everyone can spot a good restaurant.

On weekdays there's apparently also a lunch special. ₩14,000! Given how prices are these days, that feels like a real bargain.

Inside Jipbul Taebaek: sofa seats and baby chairs for a toddler
The ceilings were high, the tables spacious, genuinely comfortable all around. Since it's newly opened, everything was really clean and tidy. We went with our two-year-old, and having a baby chair was a huge plus! They kindly seated us at a comfortable sofa spot considering the baby. The staff were really kind from start to finish.

Jipbul Taebaek menu and how tablet ordering works
You order comfortably from your seat via tablet. They're also running a big receipt-review event right now. The signature dishes here are said to be jipbul galbi (straw-fire short ribs) and jipbul samgyeopsal (straw-fire pork belly).
- Jipbul samgyeopsal, 2 servings
- Mul naengmyeon, 1
- Pork skin, 1
- Rice, 2
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and other stews looked really good too, but I didn't order them since I was worried they might be too spicy for the baby. I definitely thought — next time, I have to order one.

What banchan (side dishes) come with the meal?
The side dishes came out fast, and my goodness, right from the banchan alone!!! I was surprised by both the quantity and the variety. And the plating was really clean and neat.
Plus it actually tasted great. The seasoning was just right, pairing well with both the meat and the rice. The japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) was seasoned just mild enough that even the two-year-old could enjoy it. There were plenty of meat sauces too — soybean powder, angelica, soy sauce.

How did the straw-fire pork belly and pork skin taste?
The signature of Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch! Everything gets pre-seared over straw fire, and since the kitchen is open you can watch it happen, which feels reassuring — and they really sear it properly. On top of that, once it comes to the table, the staff handle the grilling for you from start to finish, so you can enjoy the meat at its absolute best. As someone with a baby, that grilling service was honestly such a relief. Totally hands-off, in the best way.

They cut everything and arranged it ready to eat, so I really could eat the meat without lifting a finger!

At just the right moment they add rice cake on top of the meat too, and the combination with the pork belly was seriously the best.
How did the jipbul samgyeopsal taste? The balance between lean meat and fat was really good, so it was chewy yet tender. The straw-fire aroma soaked in, with zero gamey smell. Because of that, even the two-year-old ate really well. She especially loved the soybean powder, haha. Dipping it in the soybean powder along with the various meat sauces made the flavor even richer.

Next, the pork skin!! This pork skin was seriously on point. Definitely order it at least once. The moment you bite in, the sweet sauce flavor pops! Crispy outside, chewy inside — a true expert's grilling really made it stand out. The chewy skin and the sauce went so well together, and wrapped with grilled kimchi it was pure bliss. Totally recommend it.

We finished with naengmyeon, and the mul naengmyeon's moderately rich broth and springy noodles completely cut through the richness of the meat — very satisfying.
Is Jipbul Taebaek worth it with a small child?
If you're near Nahyeseok-gil in Suwon's Ingye-dong and want a clean, comfortable place to bring a baby while trying meat that's uniquely delicious thanks to straw-fire pre-searing, definitely visit Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch. I have a feeling it's going to get a lot more famous soon.
