Signature chicken cutlet dish at Gyewondang Ingye Branch

Hi, it's Jjangah, who loves eating out.

My husband actually prefers chicken cutlet over pork cutlet, but lately it's surprisingly hard to find a place that specializes in chicken cutlet. And then — no way!! — I discovered Gyewondang, a restaurant in Ingye-dong that focuses entirely on chicken cutlet.

The moment I told my husband, he said, "We have to go here!" haha, so we grabbed the car and headed straight over.

Is there parking in Ingye-dong? Gyewondang Ingye Branch location and hours

Gyewondang Ingye Branch is located at 9 Ingye-ro 138beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, open daily from 11:00 to 21:00 with last order at 20:30. You can use the building's underground parking lot for free.

Since it's in Ingye-dong, parking was my first worry, but having a free underground lot made things easy. If it's full, staff said they can direct you to front parking. Street parking is also available from 11:30 to 2:30pm during lunch hours, which is worth knowing if you're visiting at lunchtime.

The entrance is styled like an old-fashioned Korean house gate, which felt oddly nostalgic haha.

Once inside, the wood-toned furniture and decor give it a bit of a Western-style diner feel too!

Gyewondang Ingye Branch also allows pets. However, inside the restaurant, pets must be in a carrier or stroller, so if you're visiting with your dog, it's good to keep this in mind ahead of time.

Tables with generous spacing at Gyewondang Ingye Branch

The table spacing wasn't cramped and the food portions were hearty enough for a full meal, so it worked well for my husband and me as a couple, but it also seemed fine for families. Above all, since both the chicken cutlet and pork cutlet aren't too pricey, this place comes to mind when looking for a good-value meal in Ingye-dong ❤️

The donut-shaped Gyewon Chicken Cutlet, 12,500 won

At Gyewondang Ingye Branch we ordered the Gyewon Chicken Cutlet for ₩12,500 and the Handmade Pork Loin Cutlet for ₩12,000. The Gyewon Chicken Cutlet has a hollow center like a donut, so it stood out visually right away.

Cross-section of the whole chicken thigh cutlet

Since it uses 100% whole chicken thigh meat, when I cut into a piece, the inside was genuinely soft and juicy! Even with a generous amount of sauce on top, the crispy texture of the fried coating held up, and my husband said the moment he took a bite, "This is what chicken cutlet should be like~" haha.

Why the egg fried rice at Gyewondang is just as good

Gyewondang Ingye Branch serves fluffy egg fried rice instead of plain white rice, and surprisingly, this egg fried rice was what won me over.

Egg fried rice served with the chicken cutlet

Eating a piece of chicken cutlet with a spoonful of fried rice together was such a great combo. You can swap the rice for black rice or a bun, but we both went with the egg fried rice, and in the end it was a great choice haha.

The Handmade Pork Loin Cutlet I ordered was also crispy outside and thick and tender inside — pretty satisfying for the price.

Diced radish kimchi, sliced radish kimchi, and miso soup also come with the meal, along with a separate dipping sauce that was oddly addictive — I kept dipping the cutlet in it over and over.

Soda for 900 won with unlimited refills

When you order a meal at Gyewondang Ingye Branch, soda is ₩900, and you get free refills of cola, zero cola, Sprite, and Fanta. This was a point my husband especially loved haha. When you order a drink, they give you a cup — you just fill it with whatever soda you want!

It's not easy to find prices like this when eating out these days. As the two of us ate, we said

Are we near a university campus or what? haha, the value here is really good!

and had a good laugh.

The couple's top pick and tips for visiting Gyewondang Ingye Branch

Having tried both the pork cutlet and the chicken cutlet, our top pick as a couple was definitely the Gyewon Chicken Cutlet ❤️ I went for my husband's sake, but even I found myself reaching for the chicken cutlet more. And lastly!! There's a separate tray return station, so once you're done eating, you just bring your dishes there yourself.
